Used it once about 4 months ago. Its powering an eero pro I put outside in an enclosure.
No issues so far.

I looked briefly (googling) but couldn't find a manual for it. Photos show what looks like a power cord coming from the wall with the Ethernet cable.

Am I correct that this kit only requires a single cat5e?

Yes the enclosure has a breakout for power and Ethernet. Uses a single cat5. Enclosure does need a single gang cutout behind it.

Great, thanks! Planning to mount them over existing data plates that they no longer use.

Also don’t forget a compatible POE injector or switch!

Heads up, depending on stock you may get the kits that don’t work with single gang boxes. It will take some modification to get it mounted. The newer ones can be mounted on single gang boxes.

Seems they listened to us at cedia and the feedback on it.

Stupid expensive for what it is and I think they could have done better. But for the interim it works!

Thanks for the tip. I have zero issue popping a hole in the wall next to the existing data plates if it doesn't work.

Using eero vs ruckus brought the price down hundreds of dollars so the cost for the mounting kits are absorbed. Honestly I think eero has the most attractive AP on the market. These kits make them look super slick.

Project is a townhouse in Chicago so 3 floors like 25' wide by 120' deep. Openish floorplan so I'm putting one per floor wired back to the switch. I put 3 eeros in a 13sqft house and got WiFi everywhere. All wired to switch. These things work perfectly for homes that don't have dozens of wireless devices.

I was thinking dozens all connected at the same time like a large home with a party and everyone taking selfies and live streaming etc.

Honestly i don't know what would happen if 100 people were connected to an EERO or Ruckus wi-fi system...or if it would every happen in a residential setting. Various Networking Product training classes have made me think it matters.

Ridiculous price

We got a 3 pack of eero from the disty to try out, assuming they worked with a standard POE injector. When it was discovered each unit required a proprietary POE injector with a ridiculous price we returned the 3 pack eero to disty. What a gimmick.

I have used Eero 5 times. I have the ap on my phone so it's easy to see if there's any issues. One of my customers showed a Beacon off line and it turns out it had been unplugged by her son to plug in his phone charger.
Only issue is they apparently can only handle 30 devices at a time and sometimes thats an issue.

POE kit is out of range for many folks.

I do have a good number of Eero systems that have been reliable.

Having systems visible remotely is nice. One client had an unplugged unit, quick phone call and good. Another reported slow internet, rebooted from my kitchen and all good.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.
