I installed my first Frame TV in February and it's worked out well except for the motion sensing that turns on the art mode when you enter the room.  I have to walk up to within 3 feet of the TV and wave my arms to get it to activate.

I've been in the app and set motion detection to the highest sensitivity and that didn't seem to help.  Anyone else experiencing this?  The TV is mounted high up over a fireplace which might have something to do with it...

We struggled more with it not shutting off with the lack of motion. We have it on the lease sensitive setting and it seems to work OK. I have noticed that it takes a minute to wake up, so i thought it was not responding. I think you can actually see the motion detector flash when it sense you for the first time when the TV is asleep.

I wonder if the mantel is blocking any of the sensor signal? Cant tell how deep it is.

PS. we warn clients about the touchy settings, that it is not perfect and limited adjustability.

I have one in my kitchen/breakfast area and it works great. Mine's mounted at a normal picture/art height.

I wonder if the height or vertical dispersion of the sensor is limited.

I haven't heard anything from any of my other clients where we've installed them either other than one who is just having issues with the TV not working, not turning on, etc. (and of course, he's the one that is 3.5 hours away)

Thanks guys.  I either have a unit where the motion sensor is not working properly, or as some of you have mentioned, maybe the TV location has something to do with it.

I was there yesterday and changed the motion sensitivity to medium and low just to test.

At the high sensitivity setting where it's been, you have to walk by within 2-3 feet for it to activate or wave your arms around from about 5 feet.

On the lowest setting, I basically had to wave my hands around without 8-12" of the sensor before I saw the red light flash and it turned on.

I was told that the sensor shoots out of the bottom on a 45 degree angle. If you look at the bottom of the TV, you can see it. We have only done them on wall just like artwork, and they have all worked great. You may be able to remove the sensor, and angle it more into the room. I haven't checked yet to see if it is possible.

I had one just sitting on a counter height unit. Always thought that thing was super sensitive. Always came on. But, now that i think about it it was more likely because it was in a dark room and it was the light change that actually triggered it and not motion.

We are installing our first Frame TV. It’s above a fireplace, just like in your pic. How did you deal with concealing the one connect box?
If it's not simple, it's not sufficiently advanced.

Put in a 14x14” in-wall enclosure behind the TV.

I don't think the One Connect box that comes with the Frame TVs will fit in a 14x14" box.  It's going to be too long.  You might be able to cram it in there diagonally, but that won't leave much room for anything else.

For the install I pictured, I used one of the 49ft One Connect cables and located the One Connect in the equipment rack which is in an adjacent room.  I do have a inwall box behind the TV that contains a WattBox to power cycle the TV if necessary.

I did find that the motion sensor had been pushed up in the TV a little.  I'm sure when installing I stood the TV up on a moving blanket on the floor and that seemed to dislodge it.

I just wiggled it with my fingers and it kind of popped back down into place.  This seemed to improve the motion sensing, but still seems like it could work better.

It fits diagonally in a 14x14 snap enclosure, with enough space remaining for a C4 EA1 and a HDBT receiver.

Is that the plastic 14x14 or the metal one?  I think they are slightly different dimensions (the metal one is smaller on the inside).

I've got one going in last week and was planning to use one of the plastic boxes and hoped that it would fit.

Plastic. Was trying to find a picture I know I took of it.

I believe the metal box is actually larger inside than the plastic, but I’m not certain of that.
