I need to rip some CD’s for a client (actually my daughter rips them for a $1 a piece). Last time I screwed up and ripped them in WMA then had to go through the problem of converting all the files. What is the best ripping Software to use now?

https://www.dbpoweramp.com/

This is what I use, once set up you drop the disc in and do something else for a few minutes and when the door pops open you drop in the next one. Gets all the meta data automatically.

I use Plex for my listening on all devices.

dbpoweramp is what I use too. But note that it doesn't always find the right metadata/album art. You can find and augment them yourself though.

Hi-FiGuy,
could you give a short critique of plex.tv? At first glance it looks really great and I'd like to know if there are some special things that make it better than, for instance, the usual Windows Media Player.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I use dBpoweramp. You can set it up to fetch multiple sets of metadata and highlight any differences. From here you can pick and choose which fields that you want to include. Metadata is much better than it was in the 200x era and prior.

When I'm on a ripping frenzy, I'll work with multiple computers and feed the trays as they pop out. In my experience laptops are not as forgiving of disk damage as desktops. One quickly learns how to visually inspect the CD's and stack them by the appropriate reader.

The GUI more than anything, super easy to navigate, easy on the eyes and mind. Think Kaliascape.
Once easily configured, its automatic on updating your files as long as you keep putting them in the same place.

Available on all devices, great for traveling.

I have only one complaint, and this is echoed by many, is that it does not do gapless playback. We have been asking for it for years and they talk about it but never implement it. Oddly enough if you want gapless play back you use Plex Home Theater (not sure if its still available).

If you want ultimate Hi-Fi use Roon and HQ player.

For one, it’s apparently super easy to use plex on Roku and Apple TV. So it’s easy for people to use on screen instead of going to a windows computer. Also it can manage videos too. So if someone has a bunch of home movies (or ripped a bunch of movies) those are easy to manage and play too

Correct on all counts. They are pretty clear on they want nothing to do with ripping movies, but once they are, piece of cake to get them in there.
I use it on my desktop, lap top,S8+,Roku,Crapple TV, Sony DVD Player and the wife on Ifone.

And yes there is a Crapple/everthing else but war going on in this house daily.
Pretty clear what side I am on eh!

I use http://www.exactaudiocopy.de
Works pretty good...

If you want something that is fully automated I suggest you have a look at Vortexbox.
A standalone sever for various music streamers. Once you insert a CD it automatically rips it and omce done ejects the disc.
