What’s your opinion Sonance C6R vs Proficent C606 ?

For entry level we’ve used loads of Proficent C606s over the years but pondering changing to Sonance C6R has anyone used both and have and opinion on which they prefer ?

Oh wow.
Proficent are some of the worst, crappy, bottom-of-the-barrel, nasty, horrible speakers you can get. Flea market speakers = they belong being sold at a flea market (Not sure what a flea market type of venue would be called in the UK).

Go with the Sonance. They are OK speakers for the money and they offer a large assortment to fit many install needs. They should be able to cover everything and more, that you were using from Proficent.

KEF available to you? Being a UK company, I would think those would be easy to get there. I'm loving the value of the KEF lineup right now.

[Suggestion]:
Do you have a set of high-end headphones? If you say BOSE or BEATS I'm going to have to slap you.
I mean something in the $300-$600 range from Sennheiser, AKG, Grado, etc.. (there are a few other really good brands I can't think of right now). If not, get some! And get a nice DAC or high-rez audio device to playback CD quality or high-rez audio files. Pick some songs you like and listen to them over & over again thru the headphones. Get use to how the music is suppose to sound and then use those tracks when evaluating a system you just put in or evaluating speakers you want to sell. I guarantee you, you will never pick a speaker like Proficent again.

I have sold Proficient speakers one or two times in all of my years in this business, mainly because of the comments about their bad sound, etc. They can sound decent, but a HP crossover and some EQ are needed. I did a fitness facility a couple of years ago and installed eight of the 8" coax in the ceiling. Once I had everything connected, I fired it up and was surprised to hear them sounding better than expected. This is in a large, rectangular room with a 14' ceiling, so it's more than reverberant, but they handled whatever I sent their way, although it wasn't terribly loud- that would have just sounded bad with any speakers. Once the sub was connected and I had a chance to EQ the system, I fired it up and to be honest, it rocks. I have done live sound with very good equipment and this kind of setup isn't foreign to me, but it does work well.

I was as surprised as anyone. The clients are friends of mine and the budget was tight, so I used a mix of inexpensive, but capable equipment. Haven't touched it since it went in.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

In such a large space, the high frequency will dissipate quickly. Many reason why live sound & venue type speakers use horn loaded high frequency drivers.
One of the worse things about the Proficent speakers, is the nasty sounding highs. So in a large venue like that, it doesn't surprise me they may have sounded a little more tame.

The C6R are the best crappy speaker out there. Honestly, try to get them to spring for the VP60's for $50 more, or the VP62R's at $150 more. The VP62's are amazing speakers at their price point.

As I wrote, it's 14' high, so my head is about 8' from the tweeters and I used the textile domes- I have only heard a few metal domes that I liked and those were MB Quart car speakers. I have used my phone's music, Pandora One, music from my laptop plugged into the mixer and it really did surprise me. Even at 4'-11", the owner hasn't had any problems with feedback from the mic headset, nor have the other instructors.

While the midrange is more important, screechy, nasty highs aren't tolerable and when I fired up the RTA, it was smooth enough that I only used a gentle downward slope to get the sound I wanted. As I wrote, it's all cheap stuff (well, except for the JBL Control SUB200)- Behringer A500 power amp for the sub, Behringer 15 band stereo EQ with feedback destroyer and sub crossover, little Rolls mixers, Dayton MA-1240 power amp and ART Head Amp to control the four speaker pairs so no area is too loud. The walls are concrete block, ceiling is drywall and the concrete floor has a continuous rubber mat covering it. I think the speakers are about 12' apart, so there aren't any hot spots, either. 40W to each of the eight speakers and whatever the A500 puts out going to the subs is more than enough- it becomes too loud before the sound takes a dump. I also hid the equalizer behind a blank rack panel and set the sub level so that even if someone decides to be the "musical expert", cranking the control on the power amp only makes it too loud, it won't blow up the subs or amp.

Thanks for all the input

Looking at the specs the c606 have a low range of 40hz where the c6r are 50hz do those 2 numbers tell the whole picture ? Will the c6r sound noticbily less bassey ?

For background this setup will be powered by either a bunch of sonos connects or a savant pro audio 4

Of all the electronic specifications that exist, I would say speaker frequency response and power handling capability could be the most meaningless of all. Just looking at the low-frequency spec on two competing speakers will give you practically no clue as to which will have better bass.

With speakers, you always start with a known brand with a decent reputation. Then you start getting a little pickier within that brand. Sonance visual performance are great speakers for the money in my opinion.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Thats why min should be VP62, which the speaker completely pivots.
