With the announced end of OPPO; what brand and model is the “substitute”?
I have a job that will wrap at the end of the month and I had a OPPO UDP-203 in the proposal. Should I simply get the OPPO? Or should I jump ship to something else?

Why did you specify OPPO? Features? Reputation? Control platform support? Audio & Video quality? Customer request?
Obviously, there is a growing risk that OPPO support will slide in the future. Is this important? (Personally, I don't expect much future support for A/V products. With the obvious exception of Sonos, software updates and such tend to disappear after a year or two for all products)

Would consider Sony for an alternative, the 1000 will likely be supported for a longer period than the Oppo.

I concur, the sony 1000. Drastically cheaper is the 800 with minor differences.

Sony 1000, RS232 or IP. I have several at home and shop. They are solid, but one needs power cycling every once in a while.
