I'm with goldenzrule. I think we're not getting the whole story.

I wondered about Snap's customer service in general, so I started a thread about it at [Link: remotecentral.com]. The overwhelming opinion of others is that their customer service is GREAT.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Their customer service is fabulous and they bend over backwards to help any dealer that I have ever talked too....they have erred on our side more times than I can count....backing warranty longer than stated... among other concessions.
Jack Rainey - Full disclosure...reformed integrator, now mid-Atlantic manufacturers rep for: Integra, Paradigm, Anthem, Parasound, Atlona, LG TV's and Metra Home Theater...among others

Didn't know they still were. Honestly, at this point, I don't understand music servers.

I don’t either, except for one client we have that has some 70k songs in his collection. No popular device today is capable of parsing over 40k songs from an attached storage device. I’d imagine a lot of us have that one guy out there.

You're right. There is more to this story that isn't being posted. However I wanted to focus on discussing music servers rather than bashing Snap. Lots of us like Snap and I've had my good experiences too.

I'm guessing he is an end-user - rather than an AV dealer. If not - he is a Ghost on the internet as an AV business which would support SAV's position.

maybe he just wanted to buy the product and didn't like any of the local dealers. since you cannot buy it anywhere except a custom dealer (SNAP dealer) he was trying to go direct to the source.

I'm guessing -

Mark - if you like the product why not ask a dealer on here to help you out?

Nope - I'm a dealer. RTI for control / Residential A/V / Home theater / Lutron / HVAC / Cameras. I buy through a couple of local distributors and direct with others.

That said, I don't really need to defend myself to you guys who have hijacked this thread and feel the need to make uninformed judgements.

The thread is about a recommendation on music servers. Try to stay on point.

I agree that the question was focused on music servers and thus a valid question. I was defending you..

what I guess you don't see is that many people on this board are staunch defenders and supporters of snap AV. So they start questioning credibility of those that speak against them. people are funny like that..
A basic internet search does not support you being an AV integrator - but rather being associated with another non-related business - thus one assumes you are a end user. Until you provide a website or something other to support that - you are going to be hitting a brick wall.
many on here do not care for end users on this forum because some of the information is meant to stay within our industry.
Since you brought SAV into the conversation (really wasn't material to your question) - no one would have said a word. i don't make the rules (that's why we have Ernie)

Good Luck!

We strive to have the absolute best customer service and tech support around. Losing a customer due to our service is unacceptable for us. At the very least I would like to make sure that we can improve for the future.

Does Snap have minimum annual purchase quantity minimums? If so, a very biased interpretation of that policy would be "they don't want my business."

Again, we're probably not getting the whole story.

FunHouse made one good point - That I brought Snap into this. In retrospect, I should have started the tread about whose music servers we like and leave it at that.

I thought I knew my audience - Which is a a group of professional integrators that bring questions and solutions to each other. I guess I was wrong about that.

We do in fact bring a lot of questions and come up with lots of solutions. You got that part right.

But we also get bored, which is what happens after you have connected a certain number of HDMI cables in your career, and so we look for fun. Don’t pout and go home, stick around and you will fit right in if you give it a chance.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I would say that people are are generally very helpful.  It is hard to take a post seriously though from member claiming to be in the biz with 21 posts in 14 years, 6 or 7 of which are in this thread.  I cannot imagine being in this business without being on this forum and IP.  Had you mentioned a number of other companies about poor support, I would be right there with you, but Snap, while not perfect, prides themselves on service and has never let us down.  This is a company whom one of their VPs not only frequents the site but has posted his PERSONAL cell phone number in the past for people to contact him.  Not only will he answer that phone, but will do it all hours of the day and even night.  So like I said, there is more to this story that is not being posted.  If you wish to keep it to yourself, that is certainly your prerogative, but the down side to that is people will be more guarded in helping you find what you are looking for.

Wait, "YOUR audience"?

You didn't exactly give us an abundance of info and since the truth in all conflicts lies somewhere between the parties that are involved, we're only seeing "They told me to get lost for some reason and don't want to talk to me".

You can get pissy with us if you want, but you really should be using your time in finding a way to resolve the problem- we can't fix this for you. If Autonomic works for you & your customers and you make good money with it, I would be hard pressed to find a replacement because the item is limited to only a few manufacturers and they're not all the same. Request was mentioned for its bad service- they barely answer the phone at all, never mind actually being helpful.

BTW- did you see that Derek from Snap responded to this thread?
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

Threads like this are why I visit this forum. Guy says two things. "Media Servers" (boring) and "I hate snap, but I won't talk about it" (controversial, intriguing). Expects us to focus on media servers, and then keeps fueling the fire.

I hated snap for a bit too, I can understand. Took one thing I felt slighted on and held on to it. Slowly forgot about it, started using them again, and realized they really do have great service.

In any case, Autonomic is the best. I want to say it's over priced, but it's so good I'm afraid to try anything else in fear of getting the dreaded service call. I guess that means it's fairly priced.

JT - If you read my post above, I already acknowledged I shouldn't have mentioned Snap.

Don't misquote me, I didn't say I hated Snap. Hey they won the race to the bottom, what's not to like.
