The number of robocalls I get in any given day trying to offer "google map" services is insane. Can easily reach into the teens and 20s on a bad day. I try to block the numbers via my phone but these F$#$@ switch up the numbers so often it doesnt seem like that does a lot of good.

We have had the same number since the 80s when my father started our company so I dont know if this is just the result of being on so many call lists or if everyone has this much of a problem with these calls. I dont have an official receptionist or office staff and try to answer most of the calls myself but it has become quite cumbersome when youre trying to run cable in an attic and you stop what youre doing only to answer a robocall.

Does anyone else get these calls?
Is there anything you can do to try and decrease them?

I get plenty of junk calls. Do you let the message play and press 2, or 9, or whatever the message lady says to be dropped from calls in the future?

I try to do that and the calls seem to dry up for a while.

I get between 20 to 50 a day myself.  I've just stopped answering the phone. You can't block them because they just spoof a  different number.

I get one for SEO

I get one from some idiot that wants to send me telling me I'm pre-approved for a 250k line of credit.  I keep telling them if they want me to have it so bad to just send it over.

And I get one to consolidate my student loans..That I don't have...But I think they're making the connection between me and my son because he's in college now.

Those are the main ones I get.  If you ask them where they're calling from, they just hang up the phone.

My best friend is an IRS agent, he gets the IRS calls all the time.  He's made it a hobby to F with them.   He actually gets the IRS scam calls on his IRS issued cell phone.  It's hilarious.

And just in case you ever get a call from the "IRS" here's a quote from my buddy...

"We're the IRS, we don't call.  We knock".

I'm going to assume you have a website. Wherever your domain name is located, you'll have an option to add privacy to your account.  Otherwise, anyone can go to Who is and get your personal information.  That's certainly one way they get your information.

If you install privacy, your personal information doesn't show, it'll only show who's hosting the site, which is a dead end for them.

Ive always been told NOT to do that. If they are calling you with a recorded message they are already breaking the law and dont give a F about a call list. Pressing a number just proves to them that the number is active and that they can then repackage it to be sold again.

Change the ringer for calls from your contact list and mute all other calls.
Check for VMs at end of day to contact potential clients that left a message.

What has got really bad is the spoof of your first 3 numbers of your phone number. It’s rediculous.

This sound like a great idea.

I just changed my message to "Due to spam calls, I will not answer ANY calls. Leave a message and I WILL call back.".

Answering calls just opens you up to more spam calls, as your answering shows that there is someone at that number, and your number will then be sold to other spam callers.

I never answer if I don't know who is calling.

Am really getting tired of technology. It's about time to move to the beach and disconnect from the world. No phone, no more internet and my only contact with the outside world a TV connected to an antenna.
