Folks,

I have a client that is adamant on having a round table in the conference room and also wants to use Skype conferencing solutions.

His idea is this:
  • 1 large round table- sits 6-8 people
  • 3- ~40" monitors built-in to the table at a slight angle above the table surface for better viewing angles, instead of looking straight down
  • a single 360 degree camera with USB output in the middle.  Camera can not be any taller than 6" as to block view of the participants within the room.
  • all participants in the room would be shown in a single frame on Skype.

I've already explained to him that this design and various other things will not work well.

He still wants to see some options.  Personally, I don't think the tech is there just yet.

The only thing I've seen that does this decently is the Polycom CX5500 (#?).

Any other solutions out there?  Also, I'm not asking for the short dough solutions littering the internet.  Something that is professional and reliable and doesn't require user interaction after initial setup.

Thanks in advance.

This is for conferencing so security cameras and slower frame rates are not an option.

From 6', do you really think the frame rate will be the main issue with a HD camera?

OTOH, google has a lot of links.
