Ah, California, the Tin state (formerly known as the the Golden State). You can thank the politicians for that downgrade.

That said, certainly there are good places to eat. Ask the locals. Broaden the horizons maybe if you speak spanish?

Wow this does not sound encouraging. I did have some decent Thai food yesterday but the rest has been garbage.
I'm staying in Redlands because it's close to our new warehouse.
I was planning on trying BJ's bar and grille which is not far.
I guarantee I'll tell you the truth and I guarantee I'll tell you what you need to know but I can't guarantee that I'll be telling you anything you want to hear.

Most of the Spanish speaking residents of California have been in California since before it was California so you don't really need to know Spanish. Millions of Mexican Americans across the southwest (including Texas) are descendants of nearly 100,000 Mexicans who were given American Citizenship when the Southwest was annexed after the war. So if you see someone that has dark hair and skin don't immediately assume you need to speak Spanish to communicate with them. Same goes for light skinned people wearing flannel and overalls. Just speak plain English and they will understand most if not all of what you are saying.

(bla bla bla)

Just speak plain English and they will understand most if not all of what you are | saying.

With all due respect, you cannot be any more out of touch with the reality of living in CA.

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I have been allover California. When you drive from South to North things change every 50 miles. You guys who think that all of California is over run by non English speaking Mexicans are out of touch. You remind me of the people who think all of Chicago is downtown.

You have been refuted by two guys who may have over 100 years spent in California and traveled from one end to the other. But you are clearly the expert.

The stereotypes of CA are rampant here and most places. So many forget the diversity of the state. Over 800 miles of coastline, the highest and lowest points in the lower 48. I have almost 35 years of living in the state, 31ish in No. Mexico and 3+ in the bay area.

But hey, lets hear more from the mental midget from TX who clearly has more matter in his cowboy hat than his skull. Because CA is all Hollywood.

San Bernardino is not that great an area, definitely not a tourist attraction city. A lot of industry and a distribution hub. Somewhere I would mostly drive through headed to Vegas or the mountains behind the city. It's surely not a mecca for fine dining.
When good enough is not good enough.

Over 800 miles of coastline,

I always wondered that.  Never bothered to Google it though.

Michigan has 3,300 miles and ZERO Sharks.  We rock these bad boys on our cars. They make me laugh.

Finally tried BJ's last night. Wanted the ribs but they were out, so had the ribeye. Steak was great but it wasn't a ribeye. A true ribeye is cooked and served on the bone.

Still looking for other suggestions folks, i have another week to go yet before my 30 hr stint back home. The last few posts have not been helpful.

Mac is Mac and his every word is anticipated and expected. Sad, but is what it is. Completely warped. But thats the fabric off America, diverse as it is.

Thank you for saying that, lived there my whole life until a couple years ago and the only thing less than a kick in the nutz I could come up with is, the ignorance is strong with this one.
99 reasons why I happily and swiftly left the state, but that aint one.
