I need a very low profile active subwoofer to replace an old SoundMatters SUBstage100.

Looking at the Earthquake CP8, and the Dayton SUB-1000L. Wondering if anyone has used either, or something similar?

It goes in a space under the display that is only roughly 7" deep.

The old SUB measured 17"W x 5-3/16"H x 8"D, so it had plenty of room, as I had it standing on one end (with some add on sticky feet to keep it in place), but it has been discontinued for quite some time, and SoundStage is making nothing along that line.

Anyway.....

Anyone here know of a possible solution?

I don't have experience with the ones you mentioned but have used a Leon Speakers A8-200 in similar situations, it may not work in your application as it is 7" deep. If you do have some wiggle room, I would check it out.

What size space do you have? I have used the Paradigm Millenia Sub for tight spaces. It is not cheap though.

James has a lay flat sub that goes under the couch. The model number escapes me though.

I used the Dayton piece in my very small restaurant (24 seats, entire building is 625sq ft) mounted above a door way to the kitchen, on the wall. Kind of a dark corner next to a wall cabinet. Walls and ceiling are painted black bean soup color so it kinda dissapears in the shadows.
It just added a little fill in bass that was missing from 6 - 8" inceiling speaks.
Not awesome performance but, inexpensive and gets the job done.

Everything people are suggesting are way more expensive than the cheap sub that was originally in there.
Can I assume that the price has to be at least near the original?

In that parameter, the Dayton SUB-1000L is your best bet. It is not a great sub by any means but neither was the one that was in there. So....
One good thing about the Dayton, is in the future if/when the sub or amp fail, you can replace either (sub driver or plate amp) without to much headache.

Isnt it about $3000 by the time you buy the sub and the amp to run it?

I'm kind of leaning towards the Dayton. Doesn't have to do any more than add some low end that the Leon soundbar doesn't have. Hell, the Leon doesn't even have any mid range. Am not a fan....

I will say, that old SUBstage100 did a lot more than most people ever thought it would, or could. For the price and size, it was actually pretty damn impressive.

I wish they still made it.

Saw that, and saw a factory refurb for $200.00 on Ebay. After I get done trying to save this one tomorrow, if it doesn't go well, I'm buying one of the two, if not both.

Serious PIA to work on. During production the final step is to pour some kind of tar like stuff all over the circuit boards and wiring. I used a small butane torch to somewhat melt that goop in order to get to the screws holding the board in position.

Going to solder the RCA connector back in place, and see if I've ruined the product with all my hammering, melting, and other things.

I saw these at EXPO years ago, and bought 5 while they were offering a deal. This is the only one that as ever been a problem, and the problem was abuse to the connector and nothing else.
