What a bunch of old fvcks we have here, with a couple of exceptions who listen to NOFX :-)

We thought you were drunk and NOFX was a typo.  We were trying to be polite.

Interesting. I forgot about "Made In Japan" but it definitely should be on the short list. Get your Yia Yias Out too.

The Last Waltz is a fav of mine but not sure it was really that influential, but certainly had a heavy line up of stars. I really like the BluRay remaster and highly recommend fans watch the movie if you've not seen it.

Came back to specifically mention Made In Japan but you beat me to it.
Magical!

They're not everyone's cuppa tea, but the Dregs do a helluva good version of Kashmir-

Going to see them on the 13th.

I was wrong- they'll be here on the 11th.

MKE had a station with a Fusion/Prog show in the mid-'70s and they played bands like The Dixie Dregs, Tony Williams Lifetime, John McLaughlin, Allan Holdsworth, lots of Jeff Beck, Bruford, UK, Soft Machine and many others. Later, MSOE's station WMSE went live in '81 and the first thing I heard them play outside of the dorms was King Crimson's Discipline- I didn't know they were going live but I happened to be bored by what was on the radio, so I hit the scan button and it landed on 91.7 FM. I knew Crimson was coming out with a new album and had no idea what would be on it, but as soon as it came on the radio, I knew who I was hearing.

I went to the NAMM convention in about '80 and ran into the guy who had been our Pioneer rep when I got into the business- he told me to go to the Lexicon room, but wouldn't tell me who was there. As I approached, I realized they had Steve Morse demonstrating and after the show, he stayed for some Q&A. I asked if there was any chance of The Dregs coming back to MKE and that's when he told me the band had split up. Ran into Bill Bruford as he searched for the room where he was supposed to demo the SynDrums and since I had already passed it, I guided him. As I stood near the door, a large man moved slowly into the room- it was Carmine Appice.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

I was a big fan of fusion and prog rock. While the lines blur between the 2, there is a difference. I consider Mahavishnu, Brand X, Weather Report, Coryell, Jeff Beck ( Blow and Wired period) fusion. Yes, ELP, Gentle Giant, Tull (Thick period and beyond), King Crimson, etc as Prog rock

I could mention many live albums that are fantastic (and on my list of personal favs), but were not particularly "influential"

One example is Zappa's Roxy and Elsewhere. Great stuff, as was most of Franks stuff in the first 10 years. Not sure how influential it was.

Someone mentioned Poco. Another fav of mine. And that band was extremely influential but not sure the live album (while spectacular) was particularly influential. Poco and the Burrito brothers blazed the trail for the Eagles to land.

And let's not forget Loggins and Messina "On Stage". What a fvckin great band that was!
Chasing Ernie's post count, one useless post at a time.
