We are quoting for audio for an indoor pool area for a residence. I am thinking about using pendant speakers, and wondering if anyone has experience with what type of speakers works best for this application?
Typical outdoor on-wall speakers? in-ceiling? pendant? etc
Room is 46' x 42' with a vaulted ceiling.

Whatever you do, make sure they can handle the environment Chlorine in an indoor area will not be kind to standard speakers.

Polypropylene cones and butyl rubber surrounds will work, but the frames and grills need to be able to handle the chlorine and humidity.

As soon as I saw the title of the post I thought Pendant speakers too. I've used Snap's and JBL's, both good. JBL has a model with narrow dispersion.. if you use the right amount the echo is greatly reduced. But even if you just use the regular wide dispersion models they'll work well too.

70V system design with marine grade speakers, whether pendant or surface mount.
Sprinkle in a couple subs too.

The Indoor pool is an extraordinarily harsh environment. you will want marine grade speakers. James can make anything in their lineup marine grade, their SA speakers may be a good option!
I would not use normal pendant speakers (might not even fly with the design)

Is it built yet? If not, add in-pool speakers to the quote.

Remember that pool rooms tend to be awful acoustical environments, very few soft surfaces. Make sure you take this into account in your design. More speakers at lower volume levels so you do not over charge the room and create a muddled mess.
