I inherited a customer who has 5 TVs on one wall.
4 of them are 3-4 year old 37" Sharp TV(POS)
1 is a 65" Sharp
Each TV has a dedicated Direct TV HR-24 receiver
He is using a URC MX-890 and a MRF-350

The 65" works fine. I don't not need to power cycle the Sat box in the programming just turn the TV on and off he selects which tv he wants to control and it works pretty flawlessly.
The problem is the 4 37" TVs will not recognize the sat rec if they come on before the TV. If you leave the sat rec on and only power cycle the TVs you get the blue screen of death. You have to turn the Sat receiver off wait for the TVs to come completely on (25 secs) then send out the power command to the Sat rec.

Here's the weird thing he has the same TV in his kitchen, you can keep the sat on and just turn the TV on and off and it works fine.
I looked everywhere in the menus to see if there was a setting I am missing but no luck.
I'm just trying to simply the programming and that 25 sec delay.
Let me know if anyone has any ideas.

25 seconds is nothing, but I know it seems like an eternity. Time for a "please wait" macro?

Haven't timed it, but I'm doing a system with a Yamaha CD changer and the changer must be kept in the standby mode until called for (clients request).

Talk about a LONG wait. I will be timing it and placing a wait macro on the MX990 for this thing.

Look carefully for some difference between the kitchen TV setup and the setups in the other room. Something real subtle. Be careful not to look at something and say "it can't be that." If you make a list of differences without judging them, you just might find a key.

It sounds like the four TVs have a problem. That's not a natural way for any TV to operate.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I have no experience with this combination, but I have seen some odd reactions if the default video resolutions don't agree. Try setting everything to 720.

If both the 4 TVs and the kitchen TV use HDMI. Take a look at the lengh and/or brand of HDMI cabling. If they are different, then consider swapping the HDMI cable between one of the 37” with the kitchen 37” for testing. If the kitchen TV shows the same symptom, then you know it’s the HDMI cable.

I installed a system that required a 30 second power up wait for an older Samsung Blu-ray player. I hate Please Wait macros, but I had to use one in this case. Otherwise, Type-A users would start pushing buttons at random and I couldn't guarantee the final state of the system. I am setting a Power ON flag for the Blu-ray, skipping the delay if the player is already ON. Note that there is a small risk here because the player will power down after a period of inactivity. It's been several years since I installed this system and, so far, no one has complained about this drama. The room's Power OFF macro will clear the Blu-ray's flag.

HDMI to the TVs

Your response "HDMI to the TVs" is exactly the kind of response I was asking you to avoid. The issues of cable type, signal resolution, and cable length had been brought up, but you responded only about one thing: HDMI. This is a way to miss the solution.

Basically Ernie is telling you to investigate the situation further. “HDMI to all TVs.” is very vague.

As I stated, swap the HDMI cables between the kitchen and one of the four with the issue. If it goes away, then you know the issue is with the HDMI cabling. You’ll then have to figure out how to solve that.

If the issue persists, then swap the kitchen TV with a different one of the four.

If it still persists, then swap the DirecTV receivers.

It’s all about the divide and conquer.

I'm telling him he's asked for advice, he's been given advice, he hasn't paid attention to what has been given. KOT, you're very nice.
