My experience connecting separate buildings with underground copper has been riddled with electrical surge and grounding issues.

Anyone have a go-to for 4 strand OM3 direct burial?

I will still use conduit but still prefer to use DB grade cabling inside the conduit with experiences of conduit failures through the construction process.

My reccomendation .. use an indoor/outdoor tight buffer fiber fiber, like AFL's KR series.

Buried conduit always gets water in it eventually!!

Will fiber survive permanent burial at sea, and function as needed?

Check out blackbox and their indoor/outdoor armored cable. You can get it bulk or preterminated.

Planning on doing a transatlantic cable install? You will need subsea cable and a big check :-)
