Ive been using a network stack made up of Draytek 2860 router, Netgear/ TP Link smart switches, Ubiquity Access points for the past 4 years.

Mostly because that supplier for each category is cost effective and gives great performance.

Id like to switch to one supplier, but i have found each supplier to be lacking in certain areas.

Draytek : Pros : Great routers, can get premium (paid phone line) tech support. Cons: No outdoor APs, Expensive switches
Netgear : Tech support not great
TP Link : Tech support not great
Ubiquity : Cons : Expensive switches, No Phone Tech support
Rukus : Expensive
Pakedge : Expensive APs (something like £400 RRP for a ceiling mounted AP last time i checked)

The main reason id like to change to a one brand solution, is for things like streamlined VLAN creation across the router, switch, AP etc.

Background : The installs are all High end Residential, so usually 1-10 users, mostly web browsing and email.

Dude, no offense, but if you think Ubiquity has expensive switches, then I'm not really sure of the answers you're going to get. They have probably some of the cheapest smart/poe switches on the market. Now pricing may be different over the pond but it should be all relative.

Ruckus is expensive because it just works. Set it and forget it. If these are high end clients, they will pay the high end price for solid equipment.

Anyways, here is my list of manufacturers:

Routers- Mikrotik ($60-$200) and will smoke anything out there.
Switches- UBNT Edge or Unifi, Araknis or Cisco
AP's- Unifi or Ruckus

He is asking for ONE brand, not a mix.

You knew this would be brought up: Just use Arakanis, all one manufacturer, all on OvrC. Done.

Eww. If that's the case, then Araknis or UBNT would be my choice.

Also araknis. We’ve had no problems with it and tech support is great.

Routers: Ubiquiti ER8 or ER-Lite
Firewall: Not sure yet but have been looking into it.
Switches: Mainly Cisco SG300 and SG500. SG200 if budget is a real issue
APs: Depends on SqFt. If it's 1-2 APs we'll do Cisco WAP581. Anything more is Cisco Aironet 1800 or 2800 series. Cisco has made it really easy with Mobility Express to give all the functions you would need residentially without a controller.

The ubiquiti cloud managed portal is awesome and the analytics and data you can see on network usage is insane.

The problem i feel with ubiquiti is the product line isn't as well rounded as I would like for us A/V guys. Not even close. I love the rear port switches, ubnt has none. Also I have had horrible nightmares with setup on these products at times. Bringing it all online has been a pain in the ass. Once its online it seems rock solid. This stuff also has the lowest costs out there basically however zero margin to make any money on it and I want to make money on the network no questions asked. Also tech support on this lineup for us in this field is tough. It's too bad because I love that cloud platform but the other stuff I mentioned offsets the pro's and its really not a brand I feel I can offer regularly in my installs at this time.

Luxul has a very well rounded lineup but many gripe about reliability issues. The website needs improvement as far as finding documentation and manuals for all the products. Some stuff you just can't find for products. I also noted the other day how horrible the setup guide was for a managed switch. One section it mentions use 192.168.0.2 as the default login ip, two sentences below it it says use 192.168.0.4, like wtf?

Araknis I am just starting to play with.

Basically in a dream world I want luxul's product lineup, I'd like stuff that just works, good documentation and support, a dealer accommodation program to order one of each product a year at 50% off dealer cost and ubiquiti's cloud portal and analytics.

I've been using Araknis now for a couple years.  Started with it in my own house and have now used SnapAV networking, surveillance, WattBox and OvrC for the last two big projects and also rolled it out as upgrades for 5-6 existing clients that were a mix of Ubiquiti (Unifi & EdgeRouter), Mikrotik, Cisco, BluBolt & APC.

There were some things I liked about Ubiquiti & Mikrotik better, but the whole OvrC ecosystem is compelling and has been working well for me.  It's got enough features for what I need to do and having the centralized management for all the devices is great.  WattBox for me has been a game changer.

I came on board with the SnapAV products after they got through the initial issues that have been mentioned.  I haven't had a single failure from any of the product categories mentioned and don't think I've even had to call tech support about anything weird... it's just been working.

Have been a Pakedge fanatic for about 10yrs despite a couple of hiccups and through the acquisition. Being vested in C4, the acquisition was a welcomed event except support has suffered a bit. Araknis has been fantastic for a better price point, but hoping the router gets a refresh soon. Have done a handful of mesh and Eero has been the best for us over orbi and velop- haven’t done the Google version yet but have heard good things.

Currently, I’m in the middle of the PCNA courses and would highly recommend to anyone considering it.

Yeah, taking the “voluntary” PCNA course now. So I guess I’m going to say Pakedge is my current solution.

I know everyone has an opinion, but if the majority of the products I sell all come from the same company and are supported by the same company, it’s easier in the long run.

Gotta pull an Ernie here. But this is priceless.

When is Snap's new routers coming out?

I don't share everyone's sentiment with certain Snap products, I have too many multichannel amps that are less than 5 years on my shelf that kind of work that came from them.

I don't think I've ever replaced any other brand of amp in my life. I know Araknis has many followers, but I've lost too much time and agrivaiton to their products to trust them with my system's performance.

So the grammar on this paired with a snap inquiry made me chuckle.

It may have to be my new signature.

Sorry, don't mean to be a dick, not a personal attack, just a level of funny.
