Have a situation where my didicated cable rg6 was damaged during a remodel and only have 1 coax available. I used to be able to diplex this way back in the day but have no idea what's going on with DIRECTV now.

Any insight with this possibility?

DirecTV uses SWiM frequencies (940MHz - 1840MHz) and DECA frequencies (475MHz - 700MHz). As you can see, that doesn't leave you any safe way to combine CATV, since the DECA is running over top of the cable.

Sonora does make some special diplexers to give CATV a 7-400MHz band to use. But I'm not sure what good that will do, unless all the service you are needing from CATV is contained within that area. Most likely not.

Need to check as it's just basic cable that they will be getting.
Going to give Sonora a call to find out.

Can you remote mount one of the set top boxes and send its output over the existing coax?

Thanks for the idea. I have a Cat5 I'm using for network. I can put a Balun with network and control, relocate the dtv box and use the coax for the catv.

More expensive and time consuming than the duplexes idea but I know then Balun will work. Thanks for reminding me.
