Hello All
I don't to a lot of satellite work, even less of Dishnetwork.

The client currently has a SD setup and they are telling him they need all new wire around the house. This is next to impossible with out tearing open his walls. So I was there doing something else and took a look at the wires etc..
there are 6 total TV's. What he has is...

RG6 single from Roof/Dish to attic
from there the RG6 goes to each room.

Sounds like normal Dmark to me. Some of the Rooms are fed from other boxes I.E. the kids room and the upstairs office share the same Box but the Coax output it amp'd and split to 2,3 rooms but that is done in the attic.

What would he need to update his system?
A hopper and 5 joeys?
Splitters and a Dish?

thanks in advance.

That is self-explanatory and straightforward.

Whoooaaaa! That either contradicts the first paragraph or is a bunch of stuff for which the exact connection to the wiring of the first paragraph probably needs to be clarified.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

As long as each room has it's own dedicated run of good RG6 you should be good to go.

A Hopper, 5 Joeys, the sat dish, a "hybrid solo hub" and a splitter or two should do it.

Thanks Frederick.

That's what I thought.

He threw one more curve at me yesterday.
"I want to keep 2 of my picture tube TV's because they fit in the furniture."

Do Joey's have a standard def output?

thanks,

Are these "picture tube TV's" component or composite?

One has Component (36" Tritron) and the other I'm guessing has only composite 27" POS.

Hi,

You have your choice of HDMI or Composite Video.

The Hopper must be 3GHz RG6, if it isn't you will probably run in to issues with the system. Joeys use MoCA which uses much lower frequencies and can be ran off of RG59 or RG6.

And my installer insisted it had to be RG6 - go figure.

It might depend on the QA inspector for Dish in your area...they can fail installers for many different reason and that greatly effects the installer. When I worked for Dish 59 was allowed for standard Joeys while Super Joeys required 3 GHz RG6 because they have tuners in them. As far as I know the 4K Joey is fine with 59.
