I'd like to know what everyone is using for the simple one room solution.
Just a cable box that needs concealed and a display.
Remote? IR, RF, IP, IR repeater? Brand and model
Everyone has there go to solution for someone that doesn't want to pay for a spare bedroom or workout TV. The spectrum boxes are getting smaller but they are still alittle tough to strap to the back of tvs. That and you can't always count on catching the IR(bounce).

Which TV and cable box? Some pairs will use CEC for communication. Some cable boxes use RF. You may be able to use the TV's voice response and CEC. Usually, I can work out an arrangement using only the cable box. and TV. If this does not work, I'll use Niles IR repeater.

Xantech Dinky Link if cable box only.  If more sources are involved I do URC CCP RF base and remote.  If part of a larger system will do Total Control

Many times in used a 14" or 21" structured wiring enclosure. Behind the TV. All of the cable boxes in my area are huge. Allows for that, a recessed recepticle, surge protector, and a Xantech IR repeater kit. TV mounted with a low profile mount and its invisible. Obviously has to be a mid sized TV.

Craig.

Most cable boxes are RF now. Call the provider and have them switched out.

Out of the 3 cable providers in the areas I service, only 1 has rf remotes currently.

Sounds like you have a provider to recommend then! ;)

Since most of our homes feature Control4 already, we just add a Z2IO and a SR260.

3 different coverage areas.  Not all providers in one area.

Spectrum techs have a USB powered IR repeater on vans. 12ft long, powered off box USB jack. Emitter for box and a nice large ugly sensor to point remote at. Bring your own double sided tape. They use small circle of Velcro.
