The Sansui R-series of receivers blew up so often one of our service techs used to say "They put the output transistors in, to protect the fuses". One of the other guys answered a phone call and answered "Do you repair Sansui?" with "All the time". She missed the real meaning and heard it only as "Yes".

In the early 70s, it was amazing how many ex-servicemen wanted to replace the San-Sewer product they had bought in the PX in the Pacific.

Speaking of "all the time," one of the earliest ICs, made by Fairchild, the UA703, was responsible for A LOT of repair labor. A guy recently rebuilding an HHScott "Scotsman" receiver (with TEN whole watts per channel output!) says
According to Internet research, these UA703 IC amplifiers are a common failure item

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I really miss San Fidelius' Top Brand O-Rings. There aren't any o-rings like that anymore.
