I have a medium size 12 seat conference room that has an old projector that sits on the conference table with a pull down screen. They also have a 42 tv from the korean war.
They are updating the room. Originally i was going to put in a 75" Sony and a Barco Clickshare. They are asking about white board options. Its been awhile since I have used the Sharp unit. It was't very user friendly.
Any suggestions?
Infocus J Touch? I see they have a casting option that looks pretty straight forward. Or has the Sharp stuff gotten any better. I know there are alot of touch screen/white boards. Whats the easiest/leasy painful. These guys aren't the most IT savy

Would be looking at Planar if it suits the budget. Also did a Sharp about 5yrs back, was a real PiTA and not an “out of the box” solution.

I personally love the ELO capacitive (PCAP) touch screens. They look like giant black iPads and have a much thinner design than most others.

What size are you looking for?

My go to are these ELO’s and a Solstice Pod.

Are they looking for annotation, etc? Or just a touch screen?

We do a LOT of Brightlinks and J-touch for schools. We have done both in conference rooms as well just not as frequently. Either would work well for a conference room, I like the Epson for software but the J-touch for better precision with its pen. If you get a finger touch unit for the Epson, definitely get the Epson white board to go with it. If you just use the Pens any white board will work well.

The J-touch is of course easier to install. Do not use keystone control on the Brightlinks, make sure they are aligned perfectly if you want the interactive features to work well. keystone is bad for picture quality on any projector anyway, best to avoid it.

You're on the right track with Barco Clickshare. Upsell to a Cse800 and a Samsung LFD or Planar touchscreen. Avoid the newcomer all in one products.

As we know most of these whiteboards have interesting hardware but terrible software. I was very impressed by a demo of the Google Jamboard. Really the first one that seems like people will use it. A little pricey. You can download the jamboard app for your tablet to get an idea of the interface (and people can use their tablets or phones to participate in the meeting).

I also notice that Samsung have a new product called Flip but I have not used one.

+1

We wouldn't even entertain a different solution. Planar has free annotation software that integrates with their touch enabled displays. If they have to have a "whiteboard", just give them a piece of white glass, to the side of the display, on which they can write.

Or you could just spend a lot of your own time and money, trying to save them some money!
