anyone doing this? I was looking at buying quickbooks and say the high end software offers this feature so it got me thinking.... It would be cool to have a barcode scanner and just scan items as they are used.

For example.... installer is out in the field. You stock hdmi cables of various sizes. Installer needs to terminate some cat 6 as well. He scans the cables, scans the connectors and bam, inventory is updated, low stock alerts can be sent or automatic reorders.

I see value in this.

Anyone use this kind of solution. If so what offering did you go with, whats the costs associated, etc. Quickbooks wants a grand a year for software that has this capability. That is way beyond the investment level i'd like to make at the moment.

Here's an alternative that can be used during a free trial. Looks like it would work if it can integrate with other accounting programs.

I need to do this as well. I thought that I could find a easy to use app. I tried many apps (apple) but could not find one that was easy to use and worked well.....

Never tried with Quickbooks.

I use dtools and surprised they haven't built this in yet. I do see they have a tie in never heard of this company though.

I know manually entering all the products to setup a database blows and is too time intensive. Maybe that option could be decent if its cost efficient and can use my existing d-tools database. It looks like you have to print off labels and attach them to everything though with there stuff. I don't want the extra work... I want to just scan the existing barcodes on equipment, cabling, etc and have it recognize it. Not to mention i've never seen labels priced well. It is a waste of money having to print labels for every single product that passes thru.
