Too early for them to be offering this course, without a solid product, if you ask me.

You mean REQUIRING this course, right?

Well, it's only required if you want to keep your Gold,Silver, whatever status, I believe.

We don't do huge amounts of volume with C4 (commercial integrator) so we were never given a status other than "authorized dealer", when they made that change. We also don't get listed on "Find a dealer" through the website.

BS if you ask me, but what do I know.

How large? Are we talking the max of 32 SONOS units or something smaller?

Much smaller. I have seen issues with just 1 or 2 units of sonos with araknis. Replaced Araknis with Ubiquiti and it was fine. Even just used Comcast as gateway and router and then used Araknis for access points and it was fine. This was a suggestion from tech support. I just dont think Araknis routers play well with sonos. I do like Araknis stuff...I just have had some issues with their routers and Sonos...replaced with other routers and it worked.

There are so many places to buy Unifi that beats paying retail on their website. Baltic, Double Radius among others

For sure...I was saying...if the OP was new to this...with no access thru distribution. Buying direct would be best vs some B.S. online retailers which is an option.

Thanks for the kind words about OvrC and our Tech Support team!

Most routers are not going to manage or make Sonos work any better/worse.

This is going to fall on the core switch mainly due to STP(Spanning Tree Protocol). SONOSNet and STP clash with each other and create loops in your network. You need a managed switch to help mitigate those loops if they occur.

There are other best practices as well. Things like hard wiring only one Sonos and leaving the rest wireless. Try to keep all Sonos confined to a single switch. At the end of the day having your core switch as a managed switch will save you a lot of time and emotional pain since you can manage STP with it.

But isn't it easier to just ditch the Araknis router and use the ISP router/gateway as advised by tech support if it works? Even while keeping the same Araknis unmanaged switch/s in place. Or switching routers and or AP's? If they have worked and keep working for 1+ years? I'm not trying to knock Araknis gear...I really like it...I've just had issues with it with sonos and dropping the Araknis router has solved the issues another way than keeping it and using managed switches as you suggest.

You may already know this but they have decent chat support now which makes the lack of phone support much more palatable.

Yes. I'm glad this finally started. I used it the other day. Still cant beat calling in and talking over the phone though. But you are right...makes support much better.

That is odd. I only have 2 installs that include Araknis routers and SONOS. Both only have a few SONOS pieces in them but neither have given me any problems at all. Install times have been a year on one and 3 months on the other.

Despite going thru it with tech support, might want to reach out to a 3rd party to go over your setup with SONOS and the router and see if there is something you are missing.
Has to be something like that or else you got a bunch of defective routers.

There is a reason Sonos took several years to allow the products to be placed solely on WIFI with no Sonosnet. It just didn't/doesn't work as reliably. It can be close, but it's my experience that if it's a decent sized Sonos job, I'm still wiring amps/connects in and/or utilizing bridges. Rock solid no matter the network.

What is the problem you had?

Peplink Routers, Arakins Switches, Ruckus R610 APs, OvrC Pro Hubs.

Mostly use Peplink model Balance One Core or model Balance 305 on very large networks.

-Mikrotik Routers (Not an option here, they take some time to learn but well worth the time investment)
- Cisco Switches (Usually SG Series or above, they come with a lifetime warranty with 24hr advanced replacements. I have about 400 in the wild and have only had (1) failure to date). I occasionally use the Ubiquiti Switches, but have had issues with Araknis and Luxul in the past. Replace them with Cisco and they are good to go.
- Ruckus APs (usually unleashed for smaller projects, ZD for larger projects), Ubiquiti APs for very small budget projects, but those are few and far between these days.

+2. Never an issue with Araknis. Especially as long as you follow the Snap's Sonos instructions.

I have had araknis switch's strip out vlan tags. Snap couldn't figure it out. I had to bypass the araknis POE switch and use POE injectors and go straight out of the router (Mikrotik) and the Vlan tags worked perfectly.

I have seen multiple issues with Araknis switchs with different projects and different products. Replace araknis with a Netgear prosafe and everything worked perfectly.

The only issue I've seen with the Araknis switches was when using the newer, at the time, 48 port POE models. After system completion and running for a month or so, they lost their connectivity to OVRC without any rhyme or reason.

Spoke to support about it. Was told it has to be some sort of configuration issue on the Tik that was blocking it and to try to factory reset them and start over to see if that fixes it. Well this particular customer is open from 6am-10pm, everyday. This solution wasn't going to happen.

Never changed anything and after a month or so went by, boom, switches somehow magically showed up back on OVRC and haven't lost their link again.

Also, I run several VLANs on this system and never had any tagging issues, or at least that has been reported to me.
