Would 3x Sonos connects side by side in a rack be ok heat wise ? I was looking at this rack shelf (link below) but slightly concerned about the heat / ventilation between the units, keen to hear what others think

Is this a closed or open rack? What else is in the area? Is there any air circulation? The units are rated for operation up to a 104°F ambient.

I've done it before and have units out there running that have been installed 3 wide for several years.

Middle Atlantic makes RSH shelves for the Connect that are cut to fit around the curve of the feet on the bottom and probably look better than the shelf you linked.  They are available in 1, 2 or 3 wide configuration.

I've always done this in an enclosed rack with fans in the top and the correct vent blockers in place to ensure that air is drawn in from the bottom of the rack.

Connects should be fine, they don't run that hot.. The amps on the other hand need some space between them and some cooling.

I used the Penn Elcom rackshelf once. I didn't like it because it was open between the two feet of the Connect. The Middle Atlantic one looks much better and is only $10 more my cost.

5.5” x 5 Connects. That’s a wide rackshelf!

Maybe rotated vertically?

....the clue was in the post all along 😉
What do you mean you wanted it on the other wall - couldn't you have mentioned this when we prewired?

Yes have them working fine at many locations without a problem. If you have a lot of other amps that can cause a lot of heat have got ventilation.

I like the flexson shelf, but it’s pretty deep, and can interfere with clearance for vertical rack power
