who hasn't been with one of these clients haha
One thing I have learned in this industry. It is easier to pull a wire than it is to push one.

Any way to change the trigger word on any of these voice systems yet? I'm going to put my support behind the device that allows the Trekkie in me to come alive when I say "Computer, turn down the lights....".

When we get replicators and holodecks figured out I'll finally be satisfied....

"Computer, the wife is away for the weekend. What do you recommend for a good time?"

I have echo dot in every room, garage, shed, office and my master bathroom.

I occasionally ask for stock price, weather, traffic or my next appointment.
I use it regularly for hands free intercom, even though I have DSX phone system all over the house.
I use it for automation and integration A LOT. I'd say at least 20 times a day, more on weekends.

RBHFAN- can you remove the link- this was a serious attempt to find out what people are being asked to do and it's no longer possible to post.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

We have literally had 2 clients ask about it in the last year. I've had several that automatically bring it up during a consult and then proceed to tell me that they are not interested in it in the slightest. Privacy seems to be their concern. I could fight that battle, but I enough battles to fight.

Until it's very reliable, we won't recommend it. Of the 2 clients that asked about it, one didn't go with us because they were "not sure if they really need a full smart home system." The other had an echo and we could not get alexa to see the Heos amp on the network. And by network, I mean Comcast Gateway. I immediately pointed to the fact that we spoke about installing a proper network during the consult. Short story, both clients were cheap. I'm starting to think that I should weed these clients out as soon as they mention "Alexa" or "Google Home."
