I have a customer that needs a wireless driveway sensor. I figured Dakota Alert would be the go to, but their wireless units are all battery powered on the transmitters. I dont need a battery powered transmitter, because we have power at the gate.

Is there an option thats as reliable as the Dakota Alert products but has a transmitter that isnt battery powered?

Why not leave the batteries out and wire with a DC transformer?

How would this effect the warranty?

Being the Dakota Alert takes 4 CR123 batteries, I don’t know how this adapter could be used without soldering things together

I’m looking at this transmitter because there is so much wildlife around, the motion sensor will be going off constantly

That's the one I use.

An older version used a 9v battery but the most recent one I purchased uses the CR123 batteries.

A set of lithium's ought to last a could long while.

Using 12v on a Dakota doesnt void the warranty. There is only ONE way to wire it. SHould something go wrong and warranty claim is required, pop batteries back in and send it off. Adding 12v correctly doesnt hurt the unit thus not requiring a warranty claim. Dakota actually showed me how to wire it.

Granted, my set up is wired to a 12v battery with a solar panel, but same exact thing as hard wiring to a 12v transformer. I'll get you a pic if you want of how to wire it.

Wireless driveway sensor (thats not battery powered)

Aren't you now talking about battery powered driveway sensors?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

No I’m not. Others understood it. RF transmitter at the driveway that sends signal to the chime at the house. But the transmitter can be plugged into an outlet installed at the gate. It’s not rocket science

Mr customer. You will need to change batteries. Or, modify and void warranty. Do be afraid to charge for a new one if it breaks.

Be sure the 12v supply is regulated. A 12v unregulated supply puts out about 16v, wbich might be too much. If you have to use an unregulated supply, get a 9v supply.
