SONOS is ending support for the cr100 and it will no longer connect to a system, and all that are still connected will stop working after a update coming out April 2018. If you have some clients still using them, it might be time to upgrade them.

If you have a cr100 you can fill out a this form, [Link: sonos.com] , and they will send you a $100 voucher that you can use on there web store. It’s only 1 voucher per household, I have 2 cr100’s so I submitted one with my info and gave my brother the serial number off the other one and he submitted one for him. Sonos said the voucher won’t work with the special they are running right now for the 2 play ones for $349

People still have those remotes? I figure by now the batteries in them should be toast. $100 seems like a great deal

Well great.

I've got eight of them.

I was planning on replacing the batteries in them soon - guess I won't have to bother.

Cars next.

I can't wait. At EOL, autonomous vehicles will break off the current route, drop you at the nearest dealer or recycle point, and fetch a Lyft for you.

The remotes were introduced 12 years ago, and it's replacement model was 8 years ago.

Granted it would be preferred if they would allow for a no more updates option, but I can understand why thy don't since they have to accommodate all the changes made by the streaming companies.

At some point the free updates forever business model will consume Sonos. Do you think that customers would pay a subscription fee for continued updates?

Are you guys also pissed you can't use Windows 3.1 now and your Palm Pilot. Or S-video to your stereo VCR? Technology advances and antiquated gear needs to be dismissed. It is the nature of the beast.

The fact that they were able to keep that brick functional for 12+ years through all the associated changes is amazing. Giving a $100 credit is icing.

Or, they may skid off-road and fold up like a tuna can, to save space in the truck that will come by to pick them up. No, the passengers won't have time or the ability to get out.

Welcome to the machine. :D

YES. I keep track of work using google calendar. Used to use the Palm Pilot.

The Palm Pilot calendar offered entry times in 5 minute intervals. Google, 1 minute intervals. Who the hell needs to make every entry with one minute accuracy? Who the hell thinks EVERYBODY needs to make entries with one minute resolution? Google, apparently.

After making an entry on the Palm Pilot, or editing an entry, it was automatically saved. It's possible to leave the Google calendar app and lose what you've just entered if you don't save it.

IIRC, after making a calendar entry, the next entry on a Palm pilot was the present time, rounded up to the next 5 minute point. Google calendar ALWAYS suggests exactly on the hour, and starts doing so one minute after the hour. And, of course you have to type in the time or scroll minute by minute. It's a pissoff to be trying to enter that you traveled from 9:30 to 10:30, then worked from 10:30 to 4:30. You have to scroll to each of those times, minute by minute.

In other words, the Palm Pilot calendar was made for someone who wants to make calendar entries in a minimum amount of time with a minimum amount of effort. The Google calendar seems to be made for Google, made in a way that the company has to do the least amount of thinking.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I'm sure all those people screaming bloody murder on the Sonos forums about this are still bitter they can't use their Okidata dot matrix printer because PCs haven't come with parallel ports for several years.

I'm just utterly amazed that Sonos are offering 100 quid for the decade plus old device.

Sold my CR200 last year for 85 quid on eBay. Wish I kept it now as they are going to go up in price as those with non-working CR100 increase the demand for them 10 fold.

Ouch.

I have a few clients out there that absolutely love theirs. Mostly older, not very tech savvy people. They are the type that don't know what an app is, much less have the ability to switch between them on a smartphone. Those are going to be fun phone calls.
