How far they've fallen.  This would've never happened while Jobs was alive.  The quality control of this company has gone to hell.

Pretty much anything can leave a mark on oiled or waxed wood...

Calling apple rudderless over oiled/waxed finishes is hyperbole.

So,

One person says it happened with my Echo dot as well. Meaning it's not a problem since it happens with other products too.

Fine reply, ya think?

Nearly every electronic device I own is Apple...You know as well as I do, this is just the latest in a growing list of Doh! moments.  Moments that would've never happened if they were paying attention to the product and not the bank account.

1. The Stylus. (It's a well known fact that Jobs hated Stylus' they had one ready before his body was cold).
2. The Touchbar. (garbage).
3. The Watch. (douchey)
4. The class action lawsuit for purposely slowing down phones, and admitting to it.
5. Selling the batteries for said phones in item #3. for $29 instead of $79. Then making sure they never have any in stock.
6. The wireless headphones.  (look like you have Q Tips hanging out of your ears)
7. The obsolete charging.
8. Dongles, dongles and more dongles.
9. The late entry with the home pod at double the price, then getting their asses kicked in testing by Sonos and Google.

I'm sure I'm leaving some out.....like I said...rudderless ship.

Are you suggesting that the very same object I use to prevent water rings from my beverages can prevent OTHER objects from leaving marks on my furniture????

Gonna buy up a bunch of cheap coasters this weekend and repackage them as Homepod protectors and make a million bucks on amazon.

11 updates after iOS was released was the big one for me is telling that they no longer have their act together. A couple, maybe 3 updates, fair enough. 11 though...

My wife has an iPhone, I have Android. It is unreal how much better Google Assistant is over Siri. We we're in the car and she was trying to ask Siri something. After 6 or 7 attempts and siri having no idea what she said, I said try my phone. Same question, Google heard it perfectly as it always does and answered the question. The voice recognition on Apple is horrendous while Google got this sh&t together. My phone has a 100% accuracy now with voice recognition. Keyboard still sucks though.

Used to be, people would occasionally put a coat of wax on their wooden furniture. Good paste wax would solve this too, as long as it doesn't have silicone in it (makes refinishing more difficult).

I'd like to know what kind of finish is being affected- would make preempting this much easier.

Coasters would work except they will change the tone.  This device uses down-firing tweeters designed to reflect off of the surface. Apple does not advise setting the homepod on cloth below the unit for this reason.
But in Apple's world, the hits just keep coming......

I don't have a dog in the fight, but do feel that we should judge and critique tech companies and products equally and without bias.
