Anyone find a discrete ON/OFF. They fall asleep so you can't keep them on.

Any info on this Altice service? They bought Cablevision and will be replacing the Optimum name and service with Altice. I don't know anything about it other than what I've seen in recent commercials. They make it sound like it's an all in one cable box and internet service. I hope not.

You're correct and I hear the additional cable boxes are access points. Sounds awful.

Yup thats what I hear too. Was going to post to see if anyone had more info.

Sounds like what you'd get if you incorporated Eero into cable boxes.
Router is built in also.

This is going to be a huge clusterf%$^. The overwhelming majority of my service area is Cablevision. I'm either gonna get a huge boost in revenue or a job bagging groceries and leave the stress behind.

Waiting on a way to bridge these things since we like to use a proper router instead of their junk. We encountered one a few months back and had the installer swap it for a standard modem and regular boxes. Seems like they're pushing them now so will need a workaround for using our own routers.

Any more info on Altice One?  I have yet to encounter it but have received emails from clients saying they are looking to switch.  I know nothing about the service still.

Spoke with a cablevision tech and they say there is still no way to bridge the router or bypass it to use a proper router. They told us the only way we can own the network is to get a second modem that will be for internet only and keep the A1 separate for video services.

As far as the video service and boxes themselves, I hear they arent reliable. Spoke to a few users and have read some DSLReports topics on multiple issues.

We've told our clients to stay away when we do a fully integrated system. We install equipment that will give them all the streaming sources they need so aside from the updated GUI I don't see the benefit.

I encountered Altice for the first time last week. WHAT A MESS. No bridging, no discrete on, getting to program guide takes 3 button presses, response to channel change takes a long time. And her client box keeps loosing its programming and reverts to only passing channels 2-21 even while the server box still receives all channels. Thankfully this was only a hang and bang for an old customer.

I encountered it yesterday for the first time as well.  I can say one thing that I liked and one thing only.  The TV codes for programming the remote are only 1 digit.  LG is 2, Samsung is 5.  Other than that, no thanks.  Client insisted on plugging his Apple Router into it so he could have wifi where the Altice One could not provide it.  It worked but I told him this will likely cause issues.  I don't know Apple Network gear well enough to know if it can be put into just an AP mode.  I suggested he get Eero or something similar to run as APs if he wishes to have it setup like that.

Hi, Is there someplace to find the altice one remote codes? I am trying to find a code for Netflix as well as a discrete on and off. The RC codes does not reference altice one under Cable TV, and if you use Cablevision (their former name), their is no option for a Netflix code.

Thanks much

I heard about Altice back in March. I have Direct TV, but since the Altice box does cable TV, WiFi and Phone, I thought I would have Cable come out to the house and install it. I was a little concerned that it might work.
They were at the house for 4 hours the first day. At the end of the day, no internet and no cable guide.
The next day they sent another crew and they got the internet to work and half of the cable guide. Still couldn't record a lot of the shows we watch, because the guide was incomplete.
The following day, they sent out a supervisor and another team to sort it all out. They told me they couldn't use any of the slave boxes to create an access point ( a major point of using Altice) because it would prevent the main box from being a router. They couldn't get the guide to work, either.
The next day they came back and took everything out. Only charged me $200. for their time. Which broke down to about $5/ hour. In my opinion it's about what they are worth. The guys they sent out said they were sorry but they weren't given any training on Altice.
Back with Direct TV. Not the same since it was taken over by AT&T but, far better than Altice.
