[Link: snapav.com] found a demo of the Luma app although its short and sweet. Then I downloaded the hikvision and the Luma app. Ya pretty much identical. The cameras look identical too. So guess its pretty obvious hikvision is the same as luma just less expensive as mentioned lol. good to know.

One thing I forgot to ask though... do any of these apps send push notifications on motion detection?

Hikvision is the OEM for Luma, that's why it looks the same.

Well after playing with the hikvision/luma, icrealtime and digital watchdog apps I will say I like the digital watchdog app the best. I just wish on load it went right to the camera page and you didnt have to click monitoring first. The axis app doesn't seem too bad from a youtube video I watched.

Overall most of the apps pretty much blow and almost all of them seem to have a lot more 1 star ratings then 2,3 or 4's. I don't see push notifications on them either. I do see mention of text notifications on the digital watchdog dvr. I figure many of them probably support this but maybe not.

idk leaning toward digital watchdog. They also have an apple tv app with is nice. Trying to think if there is any other mainstream brands I'm forgetting.

You can take a look for lux cctv. There app is probably the easiest app I’ve ever used. No port forwarding, or setting up a cloud account like with hik. Just scan the barcode on the top of the dvr and that’s it.

I did some work at a house that had a Zuum dvr and the app is the same as the lux

doesn't look to bad. I just worry as its yet another app with mostly 1 star reviews with many saying app doesn't even work.

I have been communicating with the local LTS office, and their pricing seems very good. He seemed indicate Hikvision is their OEM. It also sounds as though their tech-support may be reasonably good.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I use Digital Watchdog and it's pretty easy. They do HD over coax, the app runs in iOS or Android, Mac or Windows computer and I have talked clients through editing the phone app several times, when needed. Price wouldn't be a problem.

Hikvision has that scanning option. I prefer to set things up myself and forward the ports though. I believe I was unable to label the cameras in the app when using the barcode feature.

These bad reviews may come from people that set things up themselves that have no idea how to set things up. I have both the Luma and Hik app as well as a Dahua app and all of them work just fine. They're all pretty easy to use as well.

Well i've decided to quote digital watchdog. Thanks everyone. I spent some much needed time the last two days looking over all these brands and getting up to speed. Know a lot more then I did two days ago. Appreciate the input.

Half of those mentioned are made by Dahua. Just got to the source. They have a 4 channel kit that is very affordable.

I don't know if you will replace or add cameras- I have been using their V6763WTIR and it can be adjusted over the coax, remotely.

I also found that the video can be mirrored to AppleTV from an iPad or iPhone. I hadn't read anything about that.

I have installed the Samsung SDH-B74041 (4 cameras with capacity for 8) system. Amazon Prime has it for $319. System was installed November 2016. Has been working perfectly since. Good, easy to use app for the retail store manager. I have also used the 8 camera Samsung system in 4-5 other retail locations over the past few years. They sell on Amazon for well under $500 now. Not one issue at all. Can also be easily viewed on PC if you use Internet Explorer in Admin mode.
