This idiot has contacted many dealers. What is he thinking that he will find a dealer that will sell him product at COST!? lol.

Beware of him and his shenanigans. Its likely not even real and some attempt to scam you out of product. Who knows. Maybe he is just as dumb as he sounds.

Wondering if you would be willing to help me. I live in ND and would be doing a new home construction. Would you be willing to go over my house plan with me and determine wants and needs then I do all the wiring/rough in. Sell me the all equipment at dealer cost and then I pay you to remotely program for me?

I love selling everything at dealer cost; what’s wrong with that lol ?

I still get calls, about twice per month, from a company who is “working with new home builders in Canyon Gate Country Club”. That’s a golf community in Las Vegas...used to live there; there haven’t been new home builders in there for like 15 years !

Spam him. Send this message:

"Hello,
I would be glad to donate many hours of my time, to go over your house plans and engineer a solution for you. I love helping people and feel as a professional with all my knowledge and resources, can really design a truly technological wonder for you. You will have to give me some time as going thru all design aspects, drawings, and engineering could takes weeks. I will have to share resources with other projects that are spending thousands of dollars, to accomplish the same goals. But not to worry my friend, I have you covered.

When the time comes, I can arrange to have equipment drop shipped to your location from the manufacture. It will be such a big help to me to let you have it for my costs, since I have to do so much volume with these companies to remain a dealer. Plus I have no place anymore to ship to myself since there was no profits being generated anywhere. But not to worry my friend, I have you covered.

Since it is likely impossible for an average Joe to install any of this properly, we will have to figure that part out. As you didn't mention how that would be accomplished. 90% chance of a non-working or improperly working system if some Joe attempts to install it. I know it sounds crazy but it is amazing how many times I have seen people try and do things they have no knowledge or qualifications for. So we will have to work diligently to find highly trained experts, that will be as generous as me to work in their spare time for you.

Finally. Don't worry about paying me to remotely program your system for you. What's a few more hours onto a project this size between friends.

If you could give me a credit card number for possible incidentals, we can get started. Thanks."

I only take orders for Bose Home Theater, with a credit card payment, and picked up by your brother-in-laws nephew using his sister's boyfriend's truck, who I'm paying the overage you'll pay me on the transaction.

Funny you mention that. I just got a similar call yesterday about a nearby neighborhood that the caller "represented". The call dropped and dude promptly called back and left me a message. Didn't bother calling him back.
Really weird deal, wasn't a spoofed number, wasn't Home Advisor, not sure what the angle was there.

I'm sure it was something like this stupid scam:

I get these by way of phone calls monthly, rather than emails. I never answer and they leave a message everytime, saying they want to talk about needing a service provider for their clients, followed by mentioning a affluent community/town.

Is it some kind of MLM/work at home thing? Because the number that they called from was a local cell phone exchange that wasn't spoofed and the guy calling sounded like he was still trying to work out the bugs in his sales pitch.

I get a crapton of Home Advisor and spoofed cell phone pre-recorded calls. This one was a new one on me.

I'm totally unimpressed with Home Advisor, just from the tone of their radio ads.

"Maybe you should try Home Advisor!" -- this is the smart guy from Home Advisor.

"Home what?" -- this sentence implies the guy has never heard the word "advisor" before.

There's another such ad where the person who's being exhorted to check out Home Advisor is likewise insulted.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

And many people in Brookfield are well-off; this being another case of 'more money than brains'.

I'll have to keep an eye out for this one, since it's local.

While walking a busy city street late one summer evening I was approached by a "merchant seaman" who was unfamiliar with the city and needed some help. He flashed a roll of bills and said that he had just been paid and was afraid of being robbed while waiting for his ship to be loaded. My "scam" light flashed, but I didn't know this drill. I suggested the obvious solution of a locker at the bus station. He rejected that. I then suggested that he deposit the cash in the safe at his hotel and started walking him toward the hotel. During our conversation a second person, who had been watching us from nearby, drifted by and asked if anyone needed any help. (scam light flashed brighter) As we walked closer to the hotel, the seaman expressed trust and asked if I could hold the money overnight. I declined and continued to guide him toward the hotel. As we approached the hotel, the second person drifted by again (probably, I wasn't supposed to recognize him) and the seaman announced that if I wasn't going to help him, he would find someone else and both individuals walked off. At this point I was on a pimp's turf and he demanded to know my preference -- girls, boys, etc. This was not a threatening situation, just annoying, funny, and sad. I still hadn't figured out what the scam might have been.

Weeks later the news reported a scam where a person would ask a "responsible" individual to hold money overnight, setting up a meeting for the next day. The mark would be robbed shortly after accepting the money. Being "responsible" the mark would repay the scammer anyway.

I had a similar experience to Buzz’s one night. We were working on a small project down in the keys and decided to go out one night. We found this strip club and was having a pretty good time. This one dancer hung out at our table all night, and liked to sit on my lap. And I really wasn’t spending that much that night. Anyway, her turn on stage came up, but her rubber band holding her wad of cash broke and she asked me to hold it for her while she was on stage. Being a nice guy, and very drunk I said no problem. But then as she hit the stage, it clicked, I’m holding her money, which I had not counted, and then I remembered the owners of the place were some ice cold Russians we had met at the bar. I was sweating bullets for 3 songs. Turns out, she was as drunk as I was and didn’t have any pockets.

He claimed he found a local dealer, they spoke on phone for 1.5 hours and this dealer is giving him URC product close to cost and a super cheap deal on programming lol. Ya, I bet. His tone changed COMPLETELY after he found out we knew his name, company, phone, email. LOL. Night and day. Became very courteous. He started getting concerned about reputation I guess as he learned his name was being spread across many industry sites.
