We started to use KD for smaller jobs and the both times I have used them we have not been able to control via RS232. Checked to make sure control protocol was correct. Tried several db9 cables and tried to connect directly thru putty No luck. Am I missing something? Tech support kept saying that they have never seen this before. Yeah right. I called in 2 weeks ago with the same issue on an8x8. Thankfully we were able to control that one over IP.

Pick one..

Cant control the matrix?

Can't control the TV through the matrix and balun kit?

Your question was not too vague.

Thanks

We can’t switch inputs on the matrix via 232. It’s a KD4x4CSA. Check the title of the post

I've had this happen once about 6 years ago. No matter what we did it wouldn't change via rs232. If I recall it was the firmware????

Can't remember exactly.

Are the DB9 cables differnt pin outs? Null vs not null....

Are you getting voltage across TX and ground on the serial port?

What baud rate are you using when trying to connect through putty?

Are you connecting your computer's TX to the matrix RX and your computers Rx to the matrix TX?
If it's not simple, it's not sufficiently advanced.

I’ve done two 8x8s in the last year and no issues w/232. Try null modem adapter or swap pins 2 and 3 on one end.

Title read "KeyDigital HDMI matrices problem"

I read it and I was just asking....I would ask you to post your control system, and a sample of your RS232 strings to verify something not quirky to someone else besides yourself.

...SPO01SI01
are you using a carriage return.

It is a straight through cable on these.

I have controlled several over the last few years with Crestron via RS232 with no issues ever. That being said, we haven't used any in the last 6-8 months due to some reliability issues / product failures last year.

Do you have approx. 5V across pins 2 and 5 on your matrix db9 port?

Solved....So I decided to write the string in lower case letters and lo and behold it worked. The manual states that commands are not case-sensitive but in Crestron's case they are......
