Hoping to adjust subwoofer level on a Yamaha receiver, preferably with IP or RS232 command, for a customer who has a custom high powered subwoofer so she can turn it up for loud parties and not damage satellites. Can't seem to find it on any RTI driver. If not, know a level controller that can supply feedback to a control system? If not I was thinking of using a Xantech remote volume unit which seems to have preset volume levels.

Tell client to leave the subwoofer alone, it’s setup correctly. All of your questions are only asking for more problems. Especially when she blows something up.

I agree with Fins. You should hide subwoofer level controls from clients. They can only cause YOU problems.

There is no button or command, AFAIK, for any speaker level adjustment. Instead the sub adjustment is inside a menu process, and once in the proper place in the menu, YOU can adjust the subwoofer level.

There might be some way to set up the subwoofer versus the YPAO so that the client can raise the sub's crossover frequency and get some crap midbass, which is probably just what she wants. This means rotating the crossover knob on the sub, but how bad can that be? (humor)
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

There is Bass+ and Bass- commands, but these are tone control not subwoofer levels. There are no subwoofer level commands available.

I can't test this at the moment:

You can give AVENTAGE Raw YNCA commands in the Yamaha RTI driver.

Use "Raw YNCA commands"

For the subwoofer trim, specify "MAIN" "SWFRTRIM" "6.0" for maximum Subwoofer output. The range is "-6.0" to "6.0" in 0.5 dB steps.

You can also use Two Way Strings to send YNC commands for direct IP control. In this scheme you could have full two-way control. (I haven't tried this with RTI)

For example: <!--?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?--><!--?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?--><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><YAMAHA_AV cmd="PUT"><Main_Zone><Volume><Subwoofer_Trim><Val>-60</Val><Exp>1</Exp><Unit>dB</Unit></Subwoofer_Trim></Volume></Main_Zone></YAMAHA_AV>

One can tinker with the crossover frequency. Basically, anything available in the Yamaha web setup is available through YNC IP commands. Documentation is available on the dealer site or through your rep.

If you use direct IP commands, pay attention to the required 200ms space between commands or things can get funky.

isnt there some kind of "night" button. Typically that lowers the sub out. Thats a viable option for a customer to have access to.
