Was asked to replace a dying GXR system. Want to replace with a standalone system without integration.

System has mostly touchscreens and a few solo keypads.

Would any of the newer Niles standalone systems be a good replacement?

6 zones but will need preouts on some of the zones for external amps, as several zones have multiple speakers in them.

If i remember correctly, the touch panels use a double gang opening. If you don't need any video switching, the Russound MCA series uses CAT5 and works. We still do a few when the customer has to have keypads.

Indeed. Niles system does not offer pre out on all zones, while the mca88 from Russound does. Streaming capability available, single or double gang keypads available, app control. A good choice to consider.

Will look into that series. Ive never used Russound so some research is in order.

Thanks folks..

Warning , the large touch panels are larger than a 2gang box . You will need to be creative on covering the on wall panels .

The Solos are single gang.

GEI, the Russound keypads at my house fit into standard double gang boxes.

+1 on the old Niles touchscreens, slightly larger than double gang. Why they did this makes no sense. It was always an issue. I think they just wanted to sell their pre wire rings.....
