My client wants to add a hard wired Genie Mini to an existing DirecTV system, which is currently comprised of a DVR (HR24 I think) and a wireless Genie Mini.

The new Mini location would be about 275-300 ft away from the DirecTV splitter. I'm not sure about distance with these units. I'm assuming, because it uses something similar to Mocha, that it has better range. I'm asking here because I want to get real work feedback and not the canned answer from DirecTV

Can anyone confirm? I have to have the landscaper run conduit under driveway if we go this route and would like to make sure it actually works!!

TIA

should work if you pull RG11

can't confirm real world results, but it's what i've heard from my directv installer friends.

My go to coax is high quality RG-6, quad shield, solid copper center, 3GHz swept test. With that cable, I have gone 300ft with the old DirecTV systems before. And I have gone a little over 200ft with SWM before. Have not gone the distance you are looking for on a SWM system yet.
But as Duct said, if you run RG-11 I see no reason why it shouldn't work fine. As long as it is good quality RG-11 and not crap cable.

Moca is rated for 300ft point to point. an HR24 canbe a genie client, but its not a server. there has to be a HR44 or HR54 in the system to run the Genie clients.

the genie has to be 300ft or less from the server as its using moca to send the stream to the client.

I would not be confident at 275ft with typical Coaxial installations. but if the wire is good grade RG6 without any barrels or splits, you should be ok.

I think you meant RG6. RG59's high frequency response kills the UHF frequencies of SWM channels more per foot than RG6, so for equal performance, RG59 won't go as far.

From [Link: sewelldirect.com]:
RG6 has a signal loss of 6.8 dB per hundred feet at 900 MHz
RG59 has a signal loss of 11.1 dB per hundred feet at 900 MHz
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Thanks for all the input.

Yeah must be an HR44. Its not the new DirecTV monolith anyway.
