We have an existing analog camera system that is being distributed to several touch panels using a composite video switcher. We would like to update the cameras to TVI. Has anyone been able to use TVI cameras to composite video input?

The camera would have to have a CVBS output (composite video). Last time I checked, those TVI cameras with dual output, no longer exist. So you would need to find a TVI to composite adapter for each camera. Like this: [Link: amazon.com]

You don't say how many cameras, or whether all monitors see the same thing, but I'll bet that a TVI DVR (even without a hard drive would be useful!) would be cheaper than a bunch of video converters like that. And notice that one's not available and they don't know when it will be. Not only that, TVI has better video, so even though you'll take a composite output from the DVR, it should look better than the old analog cameras.

About 6 months ago I did an upgrade with an old (6 years) 16ch analogue DVR.
We sourced some Hikvision cameras that were all supposed to dual output (CVBS & TVI). When we got them, we realised that although they all had the exact same model number, about half of them didn't have the switch-ability to output both formats. Go figure.
We were told that there were a limited supply of that model (2CE56F7TAVIZ) and that they were being phased out, but they couldn't tell us if the move was being made toward, or away from the dual output with the replacement model.
I don't think I've seen one with dual output since.

Snap’s LUMA cameras have a CVBS option on them. I just installed one on a wirepath DVR. There is a switch to select TVI or CVBS
