If any of you are going to the CES. Can you do me a favor and look out for the Energous booth? Supposedly they are supposed to be there. And they recently got FCC approval for their wireless charging technology.

It’s unlike the wireless charging we have now. It’s suppose to be able to charge your devices up to several feet away.

I’m curious as for the distance. What is the charge rate. Is there a special charging base, or are they going to use WiFi router as it was previously rumored to use.

Above all, time frame of it being released. What are there any potential products being released first?

Thanks

KOT

Here are some FAQ. I saw them last year and didn’t think that it was a great idea. I don’t think that we need all of the 5GHz band clutter. Fortunately, it uses 5GHz and can’t travel far.

Another approach: https://www.wi-charge.com/

This is not a fast charge. In their opinion fast charge is not a deal breaker. In my opinion a big advantage to this scheme is lack of RF pollution. They were tentative about pricing. Likely about $300 for the “light” and (eventually) $20 for the receiver dongle.
