Can one of you guys in the PA area tell me what are the laws on transporting a handgun in PA?

I assume you don't have your conceal carry permit or you wouldn't be asking....So what is your question specifically?

He's clearly had enough of Brendon's shenanigans.

Don't know if this helps but....

I live in NY and had a full carry in NY and PA. It came time to renew in PA and they give you phone number to call. Tried calling for weeks and no one would ever pick up.
In my mind I pictured barney fife with his feet up on a desk taking a nap.
Needless to say it lapsed because I wasn't able to renew.

I will be doing the 'utah' permit, which I was supposed to do about 2 years ago but got sidetracked, but im now getting that going again.

Sorry, I was in a scout meeting earlier when I posted the question.

I know someone that’s traveling in PA to visit family. Their vehicle was broken into and at least one handgun was stolen. They filed a report, but I was curious if they may be facing any penalties regarding storage laws.

I haven’t been able to get in touch with them to find any details

It seems silly to me to report stolen goods of it could get you in hot water.
Don't let it be another case of that nursing chick that entered NJ and got into an almost 2 year legal ordeal over having a gun.

Likely variables to be considered would be if vehicle was locked, weapon was loaded, weapon was in cabin or trunk. A dealer close by here had 72 hand guns stolen in a smash and grab about a month back. So far one was recovered in an incident in Baltimore. Personally, I think anyone who has a weapon stolen from an unlocked vehicle deserves a kick in the balls and prompt removal of wallet.

Gun in a car does you no good.
If anything it could be used against you.
Carry it on self all the time or don't carry it at all.

Can't legally go into a school, church, government building or many other places with a gun- how would you do this?

I could swear that I have seen gun safes for cars- hmmm, how could that have prevented this?

Leaving unsecured guns in a car- lots of words to describe that.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

The truck was locked. From what I info I have gotten, somehow they unlocked the vehicle with something similar to a slim jim, without setting off the alarm. Then relocked the vehicle to make it look undisturbed.

The reason for filing a report is to keep from getting in trouble. I think in most states its illegal to not report a stolen firearm. Also, if the gun was used in a crime, the serial number could be traced from the manufacturer to the dealer to you.

As a carpenter said when I mentioned that the house we were working on was left unlocked, "Locks are for honest people".

It's not practical to unload a work vehicle ever day or any vehicle while traveling, but this isn't the same as leaving a jacket, packages or anything like that- this kind of shit is why we have such a huge problem with gun crimes- they can't get them legally, so they get them by theft and illegal guns are sold around the country, so it's a little harder to trace, locally. If it's reported as stolen, sure, they know, but if not, the Police have no idea if the gun is legal and that prevents quick convictions, sometimes people are released without going to prison (far too often).
