Everything is on fire around here again... has anyone been directly affected?

I have friends and clients that have been evacuated, some with homes very near the fires.  They're waiting to hear if they've had any property damage.

Lots of smoke and ash in the air all the way up to Santa Babrara.

I can't imagine.  I just saw a video of a freeway shot...It looked like the people were actually driving through HELL.

Stay safe Paul.

Do you need to bring the Porsche to NC so it can be protected? :-)

I heard some on NPR today on this. It reminded me of last year when the Gatlinburg area in TN burnt and people were getting trapped and couldn’t escape. Absolutely horrible

I'm far enough away that there's no immediate danger aside from breathing crappy air... everything around here smells like a camp fire!

The entire town lost power for about 4 hours Tuesday night and we had lots of shorter power interruptions throughout the day Wednesday.  I think the report said 200,000 were without power.

I was working about 15 miles from the nearest fire today and around 2pm the smoke almost blocked out the sun.

It could use the exercise... most of the time it just sits in the garage!

Schools were all cancelled here today and the jobsite I was scheduled to work at today has been evacuated, so redirecting to another job.

I'm still in no danger, but this looks like it's going to be a bad series of fires!

Im taking my 13 year old son for a Birthday trip to LA Jan. 10. Is that a bad time to be there? Never been to the US west coast. Staying in Silverlake. Where's a good place for Tacos?

January is a fine time to be in LA (as long as the fires are out by then).  Temps are usually in the 60s-70s during the day and maybe a small chance of rain.

I don't know much about Silverlake, so hopefully someone else can help with the Tacos.  You'll be near Dodger Stadium, but probably 30-45 minute drive to the coast.

Don't know how long you're in the area, but if you get up North to Santa Barbara please get in touch!

Would love to visit some AV firms or hi-fi stores but we are only there for four days. just can't guage how large the city is looking at it from Google maps. A bit nervous about ending up in the wrong neighbourhood or something. We're from Toronto area and I have a feeling it's going to be a bit of a culture shock being there. Hopefully we can hit some of the best places to visit while there

Isn’t Ernie in the LA area? You could do us all a favor and settle a long standing bet. About half of us here think he is really a software bot.

You will have not problem finding good tacos, even great taco. Look for dives and you will be amazed. Some 15 years ago I dated a girl who lived in Silver Lake and spent a lot of time there. Not a clue what is still there. Besides the original Tommy's burger. You'll be near Sunset Blvd, which can be an adventure in a good way!

As for weather, LA has 2 seasons. Long summer days, and short summer days. I spent some 30 years in the area.
When good enough is not good enough.
