So, like others said, if you want to use a component in, the signal goes out the component out. Alternatively, just pass the component straight to the TV and send the audio to the receiver.

Thanks dalto. So you're saying what ever input type goes to inputs, the same type must be used to go out? Now I get it was a budget receiver.

I'll just switch it all to component along with digital audio to the AVR and I should be fine.
