I put a Ubiquiti Unifi Switch 16 150W into my system. The fans are screamers and they’ll switch on periodically. It’s a personal unit and I had planned
to use two of these in a customer installation. Unfortunately, these customer units would be in a quiet living room closet and a bedroom closet. Screamers would not be welcome. (I may need to swap out that personal unit because it’s driving me crazy — it’s inside a cupboard and, true to my handle, I can hear the fans two rooms away)

I don’t strictly need managed switches in this application, but PoE would save some clutter (the injectors). Does anyone know of some quiet PoE switches? Currently, there will be two and four PoE devices (who knows what the future will bring).

Thanks

Luxul 1208. The araknis 16-24 are pretty quiet but I have never loaded one up to where the fans are running full tilt. At low loads they run slower but not what would call quiet. If noise is critical, use multiple fanless smaller switches.

Hey everyone,

As Rob said the AN-210-SW-R-8-POE as well as the front mounted version do not use fans. The rest of the Araknis PoE switches use fans that are vary in speed/noise with the help of an internal temperature sensor.

If the customer is really worried about noise then the best solution is always going to be a fanless design.

Just keep in mind the 210 series are partial PoE switches.

Let me know if you guys have any more questions.

Correct. The 210 8 Port has a power budget of 65W.

Switches with 150w POE budget are pretty much going to have fans.

For a customer, I like the araknis 8 port web managed switches mentioned above when 8-ports is enough. The ability to remotely manage and easily reset individual poe ports is great and it is integrated into the overall ovrc ecosystem.

For personal use, consider the Linksys LGS116P. It is a 16 port switch, 8 poe+ ports, 80W power budget, fanless, unmanaged, very compact and inexpensive.

This is super popular for us. The power brick is about the same size as the switch lol! 120 Watts POE+ 8 ports POE + 1 extra port

comes with magnetic feet if you want to pop it in a structure panel

Sold a ton of them with only 3 RMAs all 3 had a bad PSU that looks like a lightning strike.
