Hi All,

I have a customer that wants us to modulate a composite output from a security computer onto his Dish Network system. He just want to be able to view the cameras from any TV in the house. There is only a single RG6 from the head-end to the satellite box on the TV's. Can this be done easily?
Thanks...
Ed

yep.

the modulator plugs into the antenne input, and becomes a channel on the receivers.

Whew... an easy question for once :)
We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

This would be easy, but there is only 1 RG6 coax going from the head-end to the sat receiver. Is there a way to use the single coax? It's already being used by the multi-switch. Are there multi-swiches that have an antenna input?

My 2 cents...

Check out these two pieces from Spaun...

...they are DISH Network compatible AND have a standard antenna input. They are not inexpensive, but they should get the job done.

Good luck

Just use a set of diplexers with the modulator. If you don't or haven't purchased them before they will cost you $3.00 each. If you get taken for a ride they will cost you $20.00 each.

Channel Plus, Channel Vision, and several others all make bypass systems.

First you modulate the camera into the cable system. Then you install the the cable box bypass at the box. This will allow you to view the cable box on either channel 3/4 of the television or through a video input. To see the camera you use the television tuner and tune to the modulated channel.

There isn't any way to inject the modulated channel directly into the cable box where it will show up through the cable box.

so you inject it into the main system at the head end, then the single cable goes to each room, and then you pull the single cabel back apart at the box?

Exactly,

Then your clients just have to remember they have to use the actual tv tuner to see the cameras because they will not be in the digital cable box. Depending on their televisions/learningn remotes it is usually pretty easy to build a couple of macros for this.
