We are installing an IP camera in an elevator with the elevator co. They do not and can not install cat5 cable in the shaft. We tried to connect cat5 to their cable but it does not work.
The other option is to use some type of 2-wire device that will accept 2 wires and convert them to ethernet and, poe if possible. If poe is not possible, we can still power the camera via 12vdc.
I see doorbird has a solution, but it only goes 260'. We need at around 325'.
I also see 2N has a solution, but not sure how to purchase from them.
I also see a few others.
Can anyone make any recommendations?
Thanks.

NVT has some that I've used to send Ethernet over unused HWQS wiring (18awg). They have a few different models so see if you can find one that will work: [Link: nvtphybridge.com]

The Mobotix version works great as well.

Would we be able to use those products to run a control 4 door station? So many retros that only have standard solid 2 conductor

I just updated a 16 year old Crestron system where the client had CT-1000s. We put in TSW-760s and used the Phybridge. It worked quite well!

Cat5e, Cat6 due to wire gauge are not up to electrical code to use as a traveler cable. We sometimes run coax and us an IP over coax adapter: [Link: altronix.com]Or we go wireless and put an AP somewhere at the top of the shaft and one on the top of the elevator that communicate with each other.

Wireless for elevator shaft communication? Let me never enter that elevator!
In fact, if a client tells you "everything's wireless these days," it might be good to ask them if they want wireless for their elevator's emergency phone.

I've used Mobotix as well, their MX2-wire device. Works great, and I was going 1000'+.
I don't suppose you could run stranded Cat 5/6? Common in marine apps, where things are expected to be moving/shaking.

It is for an IP camera! Yes the camera itself is PoE powered by an outlet on top of the elevator and APs are powered as well and the only wireless is the communication between the top or bottom of the elevator and top or bottom of the shaft. It works really well no different then a bridged WiFi network.
