Went to do an X1 upgrade at a customers house and they have an older Sharp tv.
All the sources are connected directly to the tv and then there is a Sonos Playbar below for better sound. The Playbar is fed from the optical out of the tv. There is an Apple TV hooked up to the tv also and that all still works fine. The issue is that the video works to the tv but there is no sound coming out of the Playbar. We tried updating the firmware of the tv and that didnt help. We looked through all the settings on the tv and the X1 box but any changes we made in that did fix anything. To us it seems like the tv wont pass the audio from the hdmi cable or cant even receive it. There are no spkrs on the tv so we cant test it that way either.
The Model of the tv is LC-52SE94U
Any thoughts thanks

check X1 box on another set. Suspect that will work. Can you go into X1 box settings for hdmi? Suspect edid telling X1 it's a monitor and taking sound out. Go to an edid spoofing device to fix problem if my theory is correct.

What happens if you set the X1 audio output to "stereo"?

"Ding" "Ding"

I think that this is the culprit.
