Just an FYI for anyone trying to use these two products together. The iTach pieces from GC don't connect to Eero.

That's all

Which GC units? Note that the older iTach units operate in 'b' compatibility mode. I haven't looked into what this might imply with Eero, but here is a brief discussion with respect to Ubiquiti Unifi.

Reserved or Static IP?

I've seen a few things not happy when set to static with Eero set as the DNS, set DNS in device to google or use Eero Reservation and issues went away.

I have run into the issue with the UniFi APs. I believe an update along the line disabled "B" by default. I had a client whose son set up and manages his Uni-Fi deployment. He called not long after we installed some wifi iTach units saying they stopped working. Tech support was quick to let me know what to check on the UniFi software. I had him tell his son to log in and enable 802.11b, and boom, it worked again.

I just asked Eero chat support about 802.11b, and they said it does in fact support it, and it is not disablable in the software. I made that word up, so there. So if it is still a problem after trying DHCP reservations, manual DNS entries, etc. let us know.

Have you talked with GC tech support? They have some pretty geeky guys there and I would be surprised if they have not tested EERO yet. If you have, and they have tested and that is the answer they gave you, update your first post to tell us so. :)

I talked to the GC guys, there was another ticket for the same thing. They got an eero in for testing and found the same issue.

I wound up using an old router as an AP for the GC.

I forwarded emails so hopefully there will be a resolve.

In the mean time they suggested Their flex link products.

I've been using Flex for all new installs. Flex is smaller and easier to hide -- and it deals with modern networking better than the iTach's. One characteristic of iTach's that I don't appreciate is that one needs "dongles" in order to do much of anything.

Their newly announced modular line sounds interesting -- to be released "real soon now".
