I've got a brand new Ipad Air (wifi version only), lightning to usb3 camera adapter and the usb to ethernet adapter.

These are all apple products.

When connected together and the power supply is plugged in, I can go into settings and see the ethernet interface. I can select it, change to manual or dhcp, but it does absolutely nothing.

It will not connect at all. I've killed the wifi to be sure, trying to get on safari, I get the you're not connected to the network message.

Has anyone successfully used these products for a hard-wired, ethernet connection??

This is supposed to be the interface for a bar and also using the iport surface mount products.

Can't get this damn thing to work at all and its driving me crazy. Testing here in my office and it's not looking too good at the moment.

Any help would be appreciated!!

I have read that some were using a powered usb hub, but then read that others don't need it because it's plugged into power already. Gonna test the hub in a minute. That will really piss me off if thats the case.

You mentioned it already, so it may be the answer. According to this website, you will need a powered usb hub.

But not according to several others that say the charger that comes with the ipad is sufficient to power it all.

The adapter is recognized by the ipad, it just never gives me an IP address. I ended up unplugging the whole adapter garbage and plugged back in, then got prompted to update the adapter. I updated it but nothing changed, at least that I can tell.

Confirming that the USB to Ethernet adapter you have is Apple's model MC704LL/A

Also, you are using the power adapter and lightning cable that came with the iPad and not an iPhone adapter or 3rd party lightning power cord?

First unplug everything and reset the ipad. Home & Power button till you get the apple logo (or power and volume down button if the new iPad has the same electronic button as the iPhone).

Plug the USB3 Camera Adapter first by itself. Then plug the power source in to the USB adapter. Then Add the USB to Ethernet adapter. Last add Ethernet. See if that works.

Thanks IMT.

Tried those exact steps yesterday. Sat on Apple support chat today for a couple hours going back and forth. They are telling me ethernet connectivity is not supported on the Ipad. The only connectivity support they will provide is for wifi only.

Total BS, I felt better after giving him a piece of my mind.

Are you using the newest MC704LL/A Adapter? I know there are issues using the older apple USB to Ethernet adapters. Do you have another apple device you can try it on as well?

Yes sir, using MC704LL/A.

Tried on my Iphone as well. Same problem.

Oddest thing is that my network switch will show a little blip on the status light every 5-10 seconds or so. But never pulls an IP.

Its a POE switch, so I've tried setting to 100mb and turning POE off, instead of leaving the port on Auto, just as a test. Still nothing.

I'm done with Apple. The biggest problem is that no one makes nice wall mounts for anything else. Or should I say, at least nothing that looks as nice as the Iport products.
