We've been in business for close to 2 years now and as time goes on, our jobs become larger and larger. It used to be that we could use one of our trucks and a little manpower to move a large TV from distributor to workplace, but it's becoming a bit of a pain. Not only are some of the TV's getting larger, sometimes we have to move 5-6 at a time.

How do you guys/gals handle these product moving situations?

We rent a truck when we need to. It makes no sense to buy a truck large enough to do it when it's only needed a half dozen times a year.

One thing that I've considered was buying a trailor that I could pull behind my van.

It gets to be a real pain when you're trying to use installation vehicles as delivery vehicles.

Another thought is to team up with a moving company. In the area here, there's a couple of companies who will deliver large screen TV's into a house for $50-$60.

that seems like a great idea. do your employees have a hard time physically moving them? just 2 guys doesn't always do the trick. I sometimes have to pull other guys off of jobs to help move. & it's such a pain. I'm liking the idea of teaming up with movers. do you use any special tools to help move plasmas, dLPs ect...

If you need more than 2 guys to move Plasmas and DLPs, you should consider hiring sone installers that are more than 14 years old.....

For the few large CRT TV's we sell, we have some moving straps (And of course these can be used with Plasmas and DLPs too) that are harnessed over the guys sholders so your lifting all the weight with your back instead of arms. They are awesome.... 2 guys can easily move a 40" Tube up a flight of staris in no time.... Wish I had a link for ya, but I know I've seen em at CEDIA and other trade shows.... Evidentally they were intended for movers moving Refriderators and Washer/Dryers and such...... Saw 2 guys carry a Washer and Dryer Together once....

Ah.. Heres one....

I used these in the commercial side for desks for years. They work great on a RPTV, loaded ent center, etc. Slides across any surface. Great for onsite service.

We use a local insured mover for large displays now. The guy i use even has the movers help w/ any hanging as they (we) make sure it works on delivery. They also dispose of the packing mtls.

We used to do the rent-a-truck w/ a lift-gate thing.
