You can call anyone you'd like an idiot, but this guy may not necessarily deserve it.  Although I know what Fing is....I don't use it, I use Lan Analyzer.  Same thing different app...

Now...Here's one for you....Can I call this girl an idiot?  My wife and I go to Dearborn Sausage today to pick up some Kielbasa (polish sausage) for dinner.

They have 2 different types and we find ourselves in a bit of a quandary...They have Regular and Holiday Kielbasa.

So, my wife asks the girl..."What's the difference between Regular and Holiday Kielbasa?"

And I quote..."One is regular and one is for holidays".

If I would've had a drink I would've done a spit take.

My wife said..."No, I mean is there a difference in taste?".

"Well, Holiday is really good".

I knew some jerk would jump on that. I thought their name would start with a K though. And end in Gossen.

How the hell did that bullet miss me? And I disagree with you; when someone is calling a person an idiot, calling them out for their (there?) (they're?) own idiocy is definitely called for.

And maybe that guy doesn't have an android phone.

Etc etc...

I was at a sandwich shop recently where I had an interaction with a 20ish year old girl who couldn't explain something. I told her she looked perplexed and she responded "I don't know what that means."
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Well, before one proclaims that another is an idiot, one should know when to use there / their / they’re. Just saying...so they’re!

I don’t think there is going to be any winners on this thread before we are done. It should be locked before someone looses an i.

There are loads of ways to hunt down an IP address. Patting yourself on the back because you know of an android app is silly. I would check the DHCP leases on the router, for one. Maybe check the ARP table ("arp -a" in CMD) after a ping flood in case of statics. If you use a Mikrotik or other router that has an IP scan tool(Ping Flood) integrated, viola. Use 1 of the "137 analyzers you can download for free and get the crappy adds". What do you do when it doesn't show up on your app?

No, it doesn't come preprogrammed.

I agree. Happens on nearly all forums.

What does an Android phone have to do with Fing? It’s available on iOS.

I tried to order a medium drink at McDonald's and the pinhead at the other end argued that they don't have a medium, only small, regular and large.

Why expect people in entry level jobs to be smart?

If the kid at McDonalds understood that a medium is a regular, than he probably wouldn't be working at McDonalds.

This is why we can and do charge what we do, and why we have clients willing and understanding of the same.
