The foil in the shielded cable also has a drain, the drain is supposed to be connected on one side, and can be grounded at the other to help with things like blown out ports.

I want to say that flooded is the best, but make sure to bring some alcohol swabs to clean off the goo. Also, don't run it inside anymore than you have to. I've seen it ooze down walls.

Haha. I'll make a drip loop before it goes into the switch.

Seriously though thanks guys. This is all very helpfull.

I was planning to use an HDMI over Cat6 set up, so if I were to go fibre for the network, best I so for the HDMI as well no?

You could very simply use a JAP transmitter and a receiver. You can call tech support up and they will tell you how to set it up for a P2P through the network!

Amazing idea. I didn't think of that either.

The few outdoor TV installs I've done have been on the exterior wall of the house, or at least within a 50ft HDMI of the source. This is the first time I'll have implemented an extender outdoors so all of this input is very valuable to me.

This is a new build and at this time I'm outfitting the house. Landscaping won't be done until the spring and so I'm planning it now.

A bit of thread drift here:

I'll be offering the client outdoor TV options which will include a proper outdoor TV, but how do the extenders fair in an all weather installation? Ok as long as they are in an enclosure, or would it be wise to bring this stuff in as part of the winterization of the pool area?

I'm in SW Ontario. It gets to be about -30c (-20F) here in the winter.

Thanks.

Craig
