I'm tired of dealing with ATT- it's like playing three card Monty after being blinded by pepper spray. Every time I call to discuss my bill and services (cell and U-Verse internet, no land line), they seem to have played the Telephone game, so I end up being charged more and getting something other than what I wanted.

I don't need unlimited data and don't want to pay that much, anyway. I heard an ad for Spectrum and they're saying that 100MB/s is their new lowest speed, so I think I may go that route. It's also the only alternative, so....

I need one phone, a carrier that covers Milwaukee (I drop calls while I drive on major roads, in highly populated areas where NIMBY shouldn't be an issue) and I refuse to pay $100/month to use a freaking cell phone. I occasionally need to use the phone as a hot spot and some ATT plans don't allow that.

What's a po' AV installator to do?

Are you looking for a single line, or multiple lines?

What is the minimum monthly data that you are looking for?

Do you know anyone who works for a company that offers their employees discounts for selected carriers? Couldn’t hurt to look into going on to their plan and chip in monthly. *a level of trust on both parties maybe needed.

Will it be possible for you to use your own phone now on the Pay as You Go cards you can get at various stores? Only to figure out which company can provide you with the best coverage without drop calls. Then once you find the best, go with them.

Single line- Most of the data use is while I'm driving, whether for music, GPS/MAPS or the occasional online search and if I need to use it at a client's place, I'm usually on their WiFi. I also use it when I check in on someone's camera DVR, sometimes on-site to check the setup/system. I'm using an iPhone 6 because a lot (too many) of my clients use Apple phones/iPads and I need to be able to show them how their stuff works on a familiar platform and when it was new, my data use was definitely lower than it is now- I'm not even using OS-X (avoided it because it had bugs, but I haven't checked to see if those are done). When I got this phone, I was able to work with the 1GB plan and then, I called about the cost and someone bumped my to the 5Gb plan without my permission, so I got a refund and kept my rollover data. They had eliminated the 3Gb plan in the interim, so my options were limited- use less/pay for overages or pay more for the 5Gb plan.

I know that part of the dropped calls is because of NIMBY, but I don't hear about this from people who use other providers.

I have thought about a pay as I go plan- I think I'll start pressuring them to give me a Senior Discount. Thinking about asking my bank for a Sr discount on my mortgage, too. D:

Since you have the iPhone 6, you can have it unlocked from AT&T. There is a process to do so.

Once unlocked, purchase a Verizon pay as you go to see how you like it. Service, data, price and such.

Verizon uses different bands as appose to AT&T, but the iPhone 6 works with it. I purchased my iPhone 6Plus on AT&T, then after 8 months of their BS, I went back to Verizon. I’ve been with VZW for over 10 years, except for those 8 months with my phone and my girlfriend’s son’s phone. Luckily I kept her on VZW for contract reason. So I still had the account opened.

That claimed 100mb minimum is total BS.

I have Spectrum (TWC) and a speed test showed approximately 52 down, 5 up. A cable company lie? Nah, never happen.

One BIG difference with Verizon is that you will get the robo spam calls, and can only block 5 numbers on a temp basis. Sorry, but Verizon sucks, and their CS is a f'ing joke.

WRT 100Mb- depends on location. I called later this AM and that's the slowest I can get through them. Whether it will actually perform is up to whatever controls those things.

I’ve had my number from VZW for the entire time I’ve been with them of over 10 years. I’ve probably received maybe less than 10 spam calls. And they were probably my fault for leaving my number at a shitty website or something.

There again... I’ve had my email address since 1999, and probably received less than 30 spam emails.

I went pay as you go with ATT after years of paying too much.
Single line, 6 gig per month with rollover, free text and calling TO & FROM Mexico.
$40 Check it out if you decide to stay with ATT. I've never had any major issues.
My daughter and grandkids live in Central Mexico (no, she doesn't know Stanley!!!) and it's great when I'm there to be able take and make calls back to the USA.

This is a loaded question which will get more loaded answers. :) Everyone has a different opinion and experience.

I have been with T-Mobile since they were Voicestream. I bought my Nokia 6190 in 1999 when it was hot! I have never felt the need to switch. They have good enough coverage here. No contracts. I can get new phones whenever I want. I can pay for them however I want. I have a 2 line plan with 6GB data each line, which is more than enough. $89/month. You cannot get that deal anymore unfortunately. :( I could have 4 lines unlimited everything with free Netflix for $160/mo. Not bad. But my kids do not need phones yet.

I have friends who love VZW and friends who would murder VZW if they knew they would get away with it. Same with Sprint, AT&T, and even T-Mobile. Different strokes for different folks. Get what floats your boat. Try them all on their pre-paid plans for a few months and see which works best. Then make an informed decision.

Cell coverage is pretty dependent on where you are in the country. Nationwide, Verizon than AT&T in my experience. Sprint is great in some markets and worthless in others.

As for internet. I had Time Warner(Texas) for years and everything was rock solid. Since Spectrum took over it is terrible. Outages, DNS problems. For the last week I can't get more than 5mb/s.

You must reboot the modem for speed change. My guess I'd you have ingress or other ref issues slowing speeds as you should have 70 wired if your modem is still provision for 60.

Now lets get down to a brand new debate...is Apple or Andriod better?
