Got the iPhone 10. Gotta say all the reviews are bs. I did an in depth comparison myself against my iPhone 7 Plus and the gf’s 8 plus. She had a bunch of photos from a recent amusement park we were at a couple weekend prior. The photos I must say were incredible that her 8 plus took. I was shocked how good they looked. So I loaded them on the 10 and my 7 and went thru each one. Same brightness. With trutone on and off. Overall I find the lcd displays look better in 95% of the instances. The color just seemed more accurate. Like in some photos the sky was almost monotone on the X meanwhile the 8 showed great contrast and the clouds were visible. When zooming in on and photos the X looks a tad fuzzier and less sharp.

Overall it’s kind of a letdown and nothing like the reviews that praise it as such an amazing display. I see basically zero improvements over the lcds.

Anyone else do a comparison and notice the same?

Upgraded from a 7s? To the 10. Wife got the 8 because she didn’t like the thought of loosing the home button. I have to say the only good thing about the 10 is the display. It is stunning compared to her 8. I actually have gotten used to the lack of home button and I actually feel it’s the way the iPhone should have been all along. The camera is very impressive and it takes some nice night shots. The Animojis and VR work freakishly well and it’s been fun to play with, all though it’s a novelty.

I have had some issues with faceID, especially in commercial spaces and outside or lowlight settings. I’m sure it will get ironed out through updates though, still kind of gimmicky if you ask me.

The most impressive though has been the battery life, no complaints there!

All of this being said I have to say it’s a bit underwhelming. It feels nice without a case but who uses it without a case? We all knew Face ID was a gimmick and feels like they were desperate to make it a 10 year feature. It is hands down the best phone and the best size Apple has ever made. But I have to say the pixel has peaked my interest. I’ve never been a huge phone guy, just someone who needs a phone that calls and texts and runs the apps that I need. Something my note 2 did nothing right and it will take me a very long time before I give an Android another shot.

The 10 is nice, it really is, but it’s not ground breaking and nothing more then an 8 with a much better screen and more real estate! Is it worth the grand? Meh, I don’t feel any phone is worth even $500. But in this day in age it’s more of an expense that you have to have then not! We’re just along for the ride!

I think you are experiencing the same thing most customers do when they see an LED tv. Colors are not accurate, but they are bright and vivid. So thy think they like it.

I showed 7 diff people. They all agree the images look better on the 8 plus. The second I turned on the X I said to myself this display does not look even 5% better then my older iPhone. Idk how you guys this it’s way better. Side by side next to an 8 I just see zero improvement.

Take some side by side real life images of the same thing on both screens and show me how it’s better.

face ID has been 100% reliable for me. we even tried it in pitch black room. unlocked 5 out of 5 times for me and was not fooled by my daughter. at the Luzia show, the seats are barely lit the entire time. worked flawlessly for every picture and video i took. i am beyond impressd.

the fit, finish, speed, and tech have me a very happy customer!

It is funny thinking back to the Nexus Phone i bought many moons ago with face unlock!!! LOL, it was unusable!!! same with the first fingerprint reader i had on a phone.

It's possible you got a defective iPhoneX. You should compare yours to a couple of others before you decide all of them suck. I skipped the 8 and the x and got a pixel 2.

Over the last couple of years i have replaced apple tvs with rokus, i use pandora instead of itunes and we replaced egnyte with google drive. I only ever use my iPad for troubleshooting/commissioning systems and i my macbookpro has been annoying enough to never buy another apple laptop.

I have had the pixel 2 for a couple of weeks now. Screen is great. Photos are great. Battery life has been good. I dont make many phone calls and i havent used it for GPS so i dont really know how well the battery holds up yet but i havent had to worry about charging since i got it. Its almost like "i might as well charge it while im in the car".

First thing you will notice when you switch from the iPhone to Android is that there are bugs. With the iPhone the only bug i ever ran into was with roboform where if your finger print login failed you had to back out of the app and back in to type the password because the keyboard wouldn't appear on the first try. I lived with that bug for like a year before it was fixed about a week before i got the pixel 2. With android i experience bugs all the time. With roboform if i try to use the built in browser to browse remote central i keep getting forced to log back in to roboform while trying to type a respond. With the text message app if someone sends me a photo i try to open it and the photo before it shows up full screen. I am sure i will find other similar situations as i start to use more apps.

Other stuff seems like a bug but its just bad UI design. With iPhone i can tap the top of the browser and the page scrolls all the way back up. Obviously this isnt an issue if a site has a mobile version because the scroll up arrow would appear but every site isnt mobile friendly. With the iPhone your "utility menu" that you can access by swiping up is now at the top...furthest point from your finger. Silly location for the quick access menu. And i swear there is some sort of spin in fly out pop under menu for something always happening. I need to figure out how to turn all that off. Oh almost forgot..wtf with the pop up ads in chrome? Safari has never once let a popup float across my screen. Im sure this stuff wont matter in a few weeks because i will just learn to do things the google way.

The pixel 2 is a decent phone. Not any more advanced than my iPhone 6...but neither is the 8 or X imo so whats the difference at this point.

the X is so good, you gave up to soon Mac! after using it for a day, your first thought is, why was the home button ever there! the gestures just make sense! it really is just fluid, silky smooth, and fast. people who have been with apple for a long time may be underwhelmed with the x, but this only being my 3rd apple phone, i am absolutely thrilled.

the one thing android will never have is the product development team, software engineering team, etc. etc. of one of the largest companies in the world working on ONE product!! That explains the polish of apple over android.

I know this sounds stupid, but I gotta ask.

I work at a secured place where camera enabled phones are not allowed. So in order for me to be allowed to take my phone with me, I have to have the camera disabled by someone else.

Before a buy an iPhone X, can one of you who has it do a test? Go to Settings —> General —> Restrictions —> click them On and create a passcode. Then disable the camera, FaceTime should disable with it. And finally test the FaceID, does it still work? If it doesn’t, then I guess I wouldn’t be getting the phone.

Thanks,

KOT

Here is an idea for you. Print pictures. Holding an actual photo still has a much bigger impact than looking at it on a phone.

How does that work? Do they install a protected App that is disabled as you leave the building?

Lol iOS has tons of bugs. Especially since 11 hit. It’s worst I’ve ever seen it. Have people messaging me all the time complaining too. For me the most annoying are test messages that show blank a lot and have to force quit and reopen to see the text. The words delivered and times will show but text is gone.
